Katie Marie Worley of Blountville, and Jeremy Glenn McMurray of Blountville, plan to be married June 12, 2010, at The Range.The bride-elect is the daughter of Mark and Kristy Worley of Blountville, and the granddaughter of the late Ray Mayne of Bristol, Va., the late Paul and Peggy Worley, and Frances Stanley of Bristol, Tenn. She graduated from Sullivan Central High School.The bridegroom-to-be is the son of Dale and Cindi McMurray of Blountville, and the grandson of the late Hagan McMurray, Joyce McMurray of Hiltons, Va., Jane Hughes of Blountville, and Dan Hughes of Blountville. He graduated from Sullivan Central High School.
Custard and Johnson engagement
Mr. and Mrs. David Custard of Ocean City, N.J., are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Jill Custard, to Capt. Phillip Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Johnson of Kingsport.The bride-elect is a 1998 graduate of South Hunterdon Regional High School and in 2000, received her beautician credentials from Gordon Phillips Beauty School, Trenton, N.J.The bridegroom-to-be is a 1995 graduate of Sullivan South High School. In 2003, he received a bachelor's degree from Middle Tennessee State University and commissioned in the U.S. Air Force. He is stationed at McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey, as an aircraft maintenance officer.The couple first met March 14, 2008, and they have been inseparable since. Phillip proposed to Jill on Dec. 10, 2009, shortly after returning home from an overseas deployment.Jill and Phillip will get married May 29, 2010, at Litz Manor Baptist Church, Kingsport. After they wed, they will prepare to relocate to Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota, where they will take on a new assignment and a new life together.Both of their families are extremely happy for the two of them, and wish them nothing but love and happiness.
Deskins 50th wedding anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth G. "Jerry" (Judith Wheeler) Deskins celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary April 30, 2010, with their children and grandchildren at the home of their daughter Leta Deskins' home in Cary, N.C.The couple was married April 30, 1960, at Gravely Road Baptist Church, with the Rev. J.C. Cartee officiating.They are the parents of Val M. Deskins of Fort Collins, Colo.; Leta L. Deskins of Cary, N.C., and Patrick R. Deskins of Gate City, Va.They are the grandparents of Lesley Duncan of Kingsport; Ryan Duncan of Cary; Kerianne Deskins of Kingsport; Keely Deskins of Gate City, and William Deskins of Gate City.Mr. Deskins is self-employed at Holston Insurance and Real Estate, Weber City, Va.Mrs. Deskins retired from Holston Valley Medical Center after 25 years of service as an X-ray technician and a registered nurse in the cardiac intensive care unit.

She was married to Clarence Larkin, now deceased, for 56 years.She is the proud mother of Dr. Donald Larkin and wife Helen of Johnson City; Dale Larkin of Johnson City, and Patsy Nunley and husband LeVern (her favorite son-in-law) of Church Hill.She is the grandmother of Doni Hensley and husband Steve of Taylor, S.C.; Stacy Adams and husband Ben of Black Mountain, N.C., and Whitney Larkin of Johnson City. Maden and Moon engagement
John and Connie Maden of Kingsport, Tenn., along with Ann V. and Paul Lautermilch of Lynchburg, Va., are pleased to announce the engagement of their children, Megan Nichole Maden to John Allen Moon III. John is the son of the late John Allen Moon Jr.Megan and John plan to be married on May 1, 2010 at Maple Lane Farms.Megan is the granddaughter of Bob and Ila Miller of Kingsport, and the late Bill and Blanche Maden. In 2004, she graduated from Sullivan South High School, where she was very active in the Rebel Marching Band, serving as drum major her senior year. She attended Northeast State Community College and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, where she was a member of the Pride of the Southland Marching Band. She is employed with the Washington County Sheriff's Department.John is the grandson of the late John A. and Shirley G. Moon, and the late Fred L. and Jo H. Vandergriff, and Paul A. and Dorothy M. Lautermilch of Clarksville, Va. In 1998, he graduated from E.C. Glass High School, Lynchburg, Va. He served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps, with tours of duty in the Middle East and Okinawa, Japan. He attended East Tennessee State University and is employed with the Washington County Sheriff's Department.
