Yates and Stapleton marriage
Mary Brittany Stapleton of Kingsport, and Sgt. Jonathan Clovis Yates of Kingsport, were married June 26, 2009, at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas. A ceremony for the reaffirmation of the wedding vows was performed on May 1, 2010, in the chapel of First Baptist Church. Dr. Marvin Cameron officiating at the 6 p.m. ceremony.The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rick L. (Jan) Stapleton of Kingsport, and the granddaughter of Mrs. Mary Rose Stapleton, the late William Stapleton, and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Emmitt Perry. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clovis Allen (Tammy) Yates of Kingsport, and the grandson of Mr. Clovis Yates, the late Maudie Yates, Mrs. Ann Bellamy and the late Jimmy Lee Bellamy.Given in marriage by her parents and escorted to the altar by her father, the bride wore a gown of Dupioni silk with a sweetheart neckline. The skirt of the gown flowed into a circular chapel-length train adorned with pearls and beads. The bride carried a bouquet of white roses.Courtney Carroll, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Jessica Wiltshire, friend of the bride, was bridesmaid. Blaklee Emerson Carroll, niece of the bride, was flower girl.Clovis Allen Yates, father of the bridegroom, served as best man. Joshua Allen Yates, brother of the bridegroom, was groomsman. William Kyrin Maxwell, nephew of the bride, was junior groomsman. Brayden Allen Yates, nephew of the bridegroom, was ring bearer. Ushers were Stanley Pierce, friend of the bride, and Issac Allman, friend of the bridegroom. A reception was held at Ridgefields Country Club following the ceremony.The bride graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School in 2002, and attended Northeast State Community College.The bridegroom graduated from Sullivan North High School in 2004, and is serving as a recruiter in the U.S. Army.The couple resides in Corbin, Ky.

Fred and Ruth (Mitchell) Click of Mount Carmel, celebrated their 76th wedding anniversary May 25, 2010.The couple was married May 25, 1934.They are the parents of Glenna Fuller and husband Charles. They are the grandparents of Carole Fuller and Caren Bates and husband Brian. They are the great-grandparents of Leeah Brooke Bates.
Carroll 50th wedding anniversary
Bennie and Carole Shipp Carroll of Kingsport will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open reception to be held in their honor from 2 to 4 p.m., July 11, 2010, at the Renaissance Center (first floor), downtown Kingsport.The event is being hosted by their children and families.The Carrolls were married at Rock Springs United Methodist Church on July 10, 1960, with the Rev. Odell Jordan officiating.They are the parents of Tammy Carroll Higgins and son-in-law, Jerry; and Aaron Carroll and daughter-in-law, Christine, all of Kingsport.They are the grandparents of Allie Carroll, Abby Higgins, Emily Carroll, Meghan Carroll and Baby Girl Carroll. Bennie retired from Mead Paper/Willamette in 1999. Carole is a full-time mother and homemaker.The presence of family and friends is the only gift requested.
Cloninger 60th wedding anniversary
Harold David Cloninger and Elizabeth Joyce Crawford were married June 18, 1950, in Knoxville. Harold's uncle, the Rev. Vondas Flenniken performed the marriage.
The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a surprise party hosted by their four sons and daughters-in-law, David and Pam Cloninger and Greg and Marty Cloninger, of Kingsport; Kent and Nancy Cloninger of Darien, Ill.; and Chris and Brenda Cloninger of Houston, Texas.
Others attending were their seven grandchildren, some with spouses, nine great-grandchildren, several out-of-town relatives and several friends.
Harold retired from Holston Defense Corp. in 1991. Joyce is a homemaker.
They have lived in Kingsport for 58 years.
Churchwell and Gray marriage
Carrie Alice Gray of Kingsport, and Joseph Thomas Churchwell of Kingsport, were married June 13, 2010, at Countryside Winery. The Rev. Sharon Davidson officiated at the 3 p.m. ceremony.The bride is the daughter of John K. Gray and the late Lyndia Gray. She is the granddaughter of the late Edward L. and Eva Catherine Stewart, and the late Maddie Kate and Burl Gray. The bridegroom is the son of Evelyn Churchwell of Kingsport, and the grandson of the late Thomas and Velma Henry, and the late Charles and Edith Churchwell.Given in marriage and escorted by her father, the bride wore an ivory-colored satin gown with a beaded bodice and train.Anita King, sister of the bride, of Kingsport, was maid of honor.Stewart Splawn of Fort Blackmore, Va., served as best man. Bernie Mac, the couple's Jack Russell terrier, was ring bearer.The bride graduated from Sullivan South High School and attends Northeast State Community College.The bridegroom graduated from Gate City High School and is employed at Shaw Construction.Following a short wedding trip, the couple resides in Kingsport.
