Anna Ruth Mullins Huddle will celebrate her 90th birthday with a reception to be held in her honor from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, June 13, 2010, at Ross Camp Ground United Methodist Church Cabin.Mrs. Huddle was born June 14, 1920, in Hawkins County, Tenn., to Frank and Ida Fletcher Mullins. She was married to John Huddle for 61 years until his death in March 2000.She is the mother of Kay Webb, Sandra Boyd and Larry Huddle. She is the grandmother of Wayne and Ron Webb, Tom Boyd, Keith Huddle, Melissa Ward and Natalie Huddle. She is the great-grandmother of Kevin, Chad, Nick and Kasey Webb; Lela Hart; Delaney and Braden Boyd; Kaelie Huddle; Taylor and Zachary Suttles; and Steven and Alyssa Ward. She is the great-great-grandmother of Kyle, Waylon and Jayda Webb.She retired from Holston Valley Medical Center and is an active member of Ross Camp Ground United Methodist Church.The presence of family and friends is the only gift requested.
Austin and Smith engagement
Alison Paige Austin of Blountville, and Jonathan Smith of Kingsport, plan to be married in an open-church ceremony at 4 p.m., June 12, 2010, at First Baptist Church, Blountville.The bride-elect is the daughter of the Rev. Clay Austin and Anita Austin of Blountville, and the granddaughter of the late J.C. and Martha Austin, Nancy Horton of Blountville, and the late York Horton. She graduated from Carson-Newman College with a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education in 2006 and in 2009, received a master of arts degree in education from Union College. She is employed by the Sullivan County School System and teaches at Bluff City Elementary School.The bridegroom-to-be is the son of John and Sheila Smith of Kingsport, and the grandson of the late Robert and Minnie Smith, Catherine Waller of Loudon, Tenn., and the late Curtis Waller. He received a bachelor of science degree in exercise science from East Tennessee State University in 2004 and in 2008, received a doctor of physical therapy degree from ETSU. He is employed as a physical therapist by Holston Medical Group, Kingsport.

She received a bachelor of science degree in business and high finance from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville; an international master of business administration degree from Temple University in Paris and Tokyo, and a doctorate of jurisprudence from Nova Southeastern University, Davie, Fla. She is employed as a law professor at Palm Beach College and works for Palm Beach County.The bridegroom-to-be is the son of Frances Owen Ussery and Conrad Ussery of Jacksonville, Fla., and the late William Edgar Owen Sr. He graduated from Boles Academy, Jacksonville, Fla., and cum laude from Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, N.C., with a bachelor of science degree in English. He also graduated cum laude from Wake Forest University with a master of education and administration degree. He is employed by Palm Beach County in education and administration.Following the wedding, the couple will reside in Palm Beach County, Fla.
Edwards 50th wedding anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph T. (Doris Gelene Moore) Edwards celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary June 4, 2010.The couple was married June 4, 1960, at Hollins Road Baptist Church, Roanoke, Va., with the Rev. L.C. Hall officiating.They are the parents of Steven Edwards of Church Hill; Kim Young (William) of Johnson City, and Carol Edwards of Kingsport. They are the grandparents of Blake and Brayden Dingus of Kingsport.Originally from Sparta, N.C., Ralph retired from the banking business. Gelene, of Boones Mill, Va., retired as a salesperson from Sobel's and worked for many years at Nettie Lee in downtown Kingsport. They are both long-time, active members of Fort Robinson Baptist Church.

She was a member of the basketball, softball, volleyball and cheerleading teams. He graduated in 2006 from Rye Cove High School, where he was a member of the football and basketball teams. He is employed by Fluor Daniels, Kingsport.
