Don and Carolyn (Lloyd) King of Piney Flats, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary May 28, 2010.The couple was married May 28, 1960, at First Baptist Church, Gate City, Va., with the Rev. Lester Ferguson officiating.They are the parents of Kim Witherspoon and husband Mark of Kingsport, and Donald King III and wife Beckie of Piney Flats. They are the grandparents of Lindsey and Graham Witherspoon, and Logan and Madison King.Mr. King retired from Eastman Chemical Co. Mrs. King retired from First Virginia Bank.
Roy Jeter 98th birthday
Roy Jeter celebrated his 98th birthday May 14, 2010, with his family and friends at Church Hill Health Care Center.Mr. Jeter was born May 14, 1912, in Eidson, Tenn. He was married to Nannie Parker for 48 years. He is the father of Ralph Jeter, Jeanette Trent, the late Roy Jeter Jr. and the late Joyce Byington. He has nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.He was employed at Tennessee Eastman Co. until his retirement in 1970.He is a member of Mt. Mitchell Primitive Baptist Church.

Edna Doris Davis Arnold will celebrate her 80th birthday with a reception to be held in her honor from 1:30 to 4 p.m., May 29, 2010, at Church Hill First Baptist Church Student Center, 142 E. Main St.Mrs. Arnold was born June 1, 1930, in Hawkins County, Tenn. She has been married to Howard Leroy Arnold for 62 years.She is the mother of Patsy and Ed Lane of Church Hill; Nancy and Jimmie Self of Church Hill, and Linda and Doug Hendrickson of Kingsport. She is the grandmother of Christopher Self of Kingsport; Michelle Ammons Baragas of Church Hill; Candace Self Ford of Knoxville; James Travis Oaks of Church Hill; Doris Self West of Church Hill; Stephanie Ammons Fiore of Stafford, Va., and Megan Ammons of Church Hill. She is the great-grandmother of Austin West, Zachary Baragas, Kimberly Baragas and Hailey Baragas, all of Church Hill, and Joseph Fiore and Samantha Fiore of Stafford.She was employed at Rose's Department Store in Kingsport, for 17 years until it closed.She is a member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church and was a member of Fluff & Feathers Red Hatters and the church choir until a decline in health hindered her from participating.The presence of family and friends is the only gift requested.
Beach and McNeely engagement
Mr. and Mrs. Ron A. Beach of Rogersville, Tenn., announce the engagement of their daughter, Dr. Elizabeth Anne Beach, to David Eugene McNeely III, son of Dr. and Mrs. David Eugene McNeely Jr., of Elizabethton, Tenn.The bride-elect graduated from Cherokee High School in 2001 and in 2005 received a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from Virginia Tech. In 2009, she received a doctorate of pharmacy from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. She is the granddaughter of the late Beatrice Price Dykes and Walter L. Miner, and the late Paul and Joanne Beach.Her fianc graduated from Elizabethton High School in 1999 and in 2004 received a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. In 2006, he received a master's degree in biomedical engineering from Virginia Tech. He will graduate in May from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center with a doctorate of medicine and will begin his residency in internal medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in June. He is the grandson of Dolores Hart, the late Richard Hart, David Eugene McNeely Sr., and the late Marie McNeely.The couple will be married at the Rogersville Presbyterian Church on June 5, 2010.

Jerry Musick and Terry Hommel officiated at the 6 p.m. ceremony.The bride is the daughter of Mark and Vickie Hickman of Blountville, and the granddaughter of Larry and Rebecca Hickman, and the late Wanda Miller and Wayne Hommel. She is the great-granddaughter of Mae Hickman and the late Jay Hickman. The bridegroom is the son of J.C. and Teresa Jessee, and David Willis. He is the grandson of Ray and Helen Pope, and Donnie and Marie Willis. He is the great-grandson of Ruby Jackson.The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father.Kali Hickman, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Cassie Blevins, Amanda Russell, Elizabeth Carrick and Laura Cochrane. Flower girls were Lydia Hommell and Olivia Cochrane.Landon Leedy served as best man. Groomsmen were Dave Phillips, Brian McGaha, Hunter Williams and Justin Marshall. Ring bearers were Andrew Cochrane and Hayden Russell. Ushers were Nathaniel Fillers and Nicholas Fillers.A reception was held in the family center at Holy Mountain Baptist Church.The bride and bridegroom are employed by Arby's and are members of Holy Mountain Baptist Church.Following a wedding trip to Gatlinburg, the couple resides in Kingsport.
