Karen Elizabeth Mann of Mount Carmel, Tenn., and Travis David Lyon of Kingsport, Tenn., plan to be married at 4 p.m., Oct. 23, 2010 at Bluff Mountain Inn, Sevierville, Tenn.The bride-elect is the daughter of James and Patricia Mann of Mount Carmel, and the granddaughter of John Hanson of Church Hill; the late Lola Hanson, formerly of Church Hill; the late Melvin Mann, formerly of Mount Carmel; and Violet Mann of Mount Carmel. She graduated from Volunteer High School in 2004 and received a degree in accounting from East Tennessee State University in 2008 and a master of business administration degree from King College in 2010. At ETSU, she was a member of Delta Sigma Pi. She is employed as a consultant at CGI Federal, Lebanon, Va.The bridegroom-to-be is the son of the late David and Kay Lyon, formerly of Kingsport. He is the grandson of the late Charles and Eula Cooper, formerly of Kingsport; the late Paul Lyon, formerly of Kingsport, and Dolphine Lyon of Kingsport. He graduated in 2001 from Dobyns-Bennett High School, where he was a member of the D-B Marching Band. He attended the University of Tennessee, where he was a member of The Pride of Southland Marching Band and Phi Mu Alpha. He is self-employed as a lighting and energy management consultant and is a member of Vermont United Methodist Church.
Finney and McKenna marriage announcement
Suzanne Elise McKenna and John Dennis Finney, both of Raleigh, N.C., were married Sept. 4, 2010, in Brentwood, Tenn., at the home of the bridegroom's sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Sustin Anderson. The Rev. Andy Rambo, cousin of the bridegroom, officiated at the family ceremony.The bride is the daughter of Peter D. McKenna of Aventura, Fla., and the late Carol L. McKenna, formerly of Lynbrook, N.Y. She is the granddaughter of the late Madeline and Chester Laurino, formerly of Amityville, N.Y., and the late Margaret and John P. McKenna, formerly of Massapequa, N.Y. The bridegroom is the son of Ellen H. and James D. Finney of Kingsport, and the grandson of the late Mary B. and Wayman E. Hillis, formerly of McMinnville, Tenn., and the late Blanche V. and Henry M. Finney, formerly of Louisville, Ky.The bride was escorted and given in marriage by her father. Mary Kate and Evan Anderson, niece and nephew of the bridegroom, were ring bearers.The bride, originally from New York City, graduated from Lehigh University with a Ph.D. in neuroscience. She is self-employed as a consultant. The bridegroom graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School and Georgia Institute of Technology with a Ph.D. in electrical engineering. He is employed by ABB.Following a trip to Bhutan, the couple will reside in Zurich, Switzerland.
Martin 50th wedding anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. C. Earl (Martha J. Overbey) Martin of Gray, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary June 4, 2010, with a cruise tour of Alaska, courtesy of their children David and Leslie and their spouses.The couple was married June 4, 1960, in Fall Branch, Tenn., with the Rev. Avery Nichols and the Rev. Victor Wallace officiating.They are the parents of David Martin of Jonesborough, and Leslie Boucher of Fort Wayne, Ind. They are the grandparents of Emily Baker.Mr. Martin retired from home building. Mrs. Martin retired from the Sullivan County Department of Education.
Sands and Linkous marriage announcement
Amber Nicole Linkous of Church Hill, and Robert Stevenson Sands of Kingsport, were married Sept. 4, 2010, at the home of the bride's grandmother. The Rev. Greg Marshall officiated at the 2 p.m. ceremony.The bride is the daughter of Tony and Pam Linkous of Church Hill, and the granddaughter of Frankie Bullis of Church Hill, the late Bob Bullis, and the late Charles Linkous and Janet Linkous, all formerly of Church Hill. The bridegroom is the son of Mark and Rhonda Sands, and Debbie and Allen Asbury, all of Kingsport. He is the grandson of Annie Marshall of Kingsport, the late Louis Marshall, and the late Charles and Mary Sands, all formerly of Kingsport.The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father to the tune of "I Loved Her First".Sarah Linkous, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Jessica Williams, Kelli Morris, Khristina Williams, Amanda Templeton, Alecia Hickman and Sharon Hodges. Whitney Linkous, cousin of the bride, was flower girl.Josh Anderson served as best man. Groomsmen were Buzz Morris; John Anderson; Ira Barron; Chris Linkous, brother of the bride; Allen Roberson and Travis Jackson.The bride graduated in 2007 from Volunteer High School, where she was a member of the Volunteer Band and award-winning Color Guard. She attends East Tennessee State University, where she is majoring in special education. She is employed at C.J. Banks, Kingsport.The bridegroom graduated from Sullivan North High School in 2002, and is employed at Storm Security Services. Following a wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Gatlinburg, the couple resides in Church Hill.
Christian and Graham marriage announcement
Kimberley Kaye Graham and Brandon Keith Christian were married Aug. 20, 2010. The ceremony and reception took place outside at the Allandale Mansion, Kingsport.The bride is the daughter of Diana and Ronnie Graham of Kingsport. The bridegroom is the son of Lynne and Lynell Christian of Kingsport.The ceremony was officiated by Bro. Arthur Harlan.Jessica Coomer was maid of honor. Standing with her were bridesmaids Rebbecca Scalf and Kendra Bays. Kim's 6-year-old niece Rylee Faith Hall was flower girl.Brandon Marcum was best man. Standing with him were groomsmen Chris Graham, Preston Graham and Bobby Hall.The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father.The couple celebrated this beautiful day with several family and friends.They are now happy newlyweds residing in Kingsport.
