The children of Leland Gott request your presence as we celebrate his 80th birthday from 1 to 3 p.m., Dec. 18, 2010, at South View Community Center, Kingsport.Mr. Gott was born Dec. 18, 1930, to Lott and Myrtle Gott, now deceased. He married Martha Jo Cannon on Nov. 1, 1952, and they have been richly blessed with four children, Mitzi Hall, Mark Gott, Martha Ann Hayes and Marilyn Charlton; and six wonderful grandchildren, Mary Hayes, Cody Hall, Jake Hayes, Carrie Hall, Will Gott and David Charlton.Please stop by and share some memories and photographs with Leland and his family.Our guest of honor specifically requests no gifts.
Gilliam 50th wedding anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. (Peggy Puckett) Gilliam of Kingsport, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a surprise reception to be held in their honor from 1 to 4 p.m., Dec. 18, 2010, in the cafeteria at Lynn View Community Center.The event is being hosted by their family.The couple was married Dec. 16, 1960 in a double ceremony with friends Mr. Norman and Mrs. Ruby (Moore) Brobeck.They are the parents of Dan Gilliam of Kingsport, and Jennifer Gilliam of Knoxville. They are the grandparents of Austin Taylor Gilliam.The presence of family and friends is the only gift requested.
Broome and Bowyer marriage announcement
Sarah Evelyn Rose Bowyer of Gray, and Andrew Jason Broome of Kingsport, were married Nov. 5, 2010, at the home of Andrew's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Broome. The Rev. Tom Elam performed the 10:30 a.m. ceremony.Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a necklace and earrings that were a gift from the bridegroom.Cheyenne Page was maid of honor. Jordan Wheelock was best man. A reception followed.The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry and Carolyn Bowyer of Gray, and the granddaughter of Jimmy Barnett, the late Lorene Barnett, and the late Bob and Doris Bowyer. She graduated from Daniel Boone High School and is an employee at Wal-Mart.The bridegroom is the son of Ms. Cathy Broome of Kingsport, and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Broome. He is a graduate of Sullivan South High School and attends Northeast State Community College. He is employed at Ingles Markets.After a honeymoon in Gatlinburg, and Pigeon Forge, the couple resides in Gray.

Danny and Glenda Kern are happy to announce that their granddaughter, Kayla Danielle Salling of Duffield, Va., is to be married to Michael Trevor Bowman, son of Randy and Cathy White of Bristol, Tenn.The bride-elect is a graduate of Rye Cove High School and is pursuing a degree in elementary education at the University of Virginia's College at Wise.The bridegroom-to-be is a graduate of Tennessee High School and received a bachelor of arts degree in history from the University of Virginia's College at Wise. He is employed as assistant manager at GameStop, Kingsport.Their wedding ceremony will take place Dec. 18, 2010, at Thomas Village Baptist Church, Duffield.

Kathryn June Nottingham of Kingsport, and Andrew Kent Marcum plan to be married at 6 p.m., Dec. 31, 2010, at First Baptist Church, Kingsport.The bride-elect is the daughter of James D. Nottingham and Mary Nottingham of Kingsport. She is the granddaughter of P.T. and June Nottingham of Kingsport, and the late Dr. and Mrs. Robert M. Mein. She graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School in 2002, Carson-Newman College in 2006, and will graduate from Belmont University School of Nursing on Dec. 17, 2010.The bridegroom-to-be is the son of R. Kent Marcum and Cathy Marcum of Knoxville, and the grandson of Wilma Marcum of Knoxville. He graduated from Knoxville Catholic High School in 2003, and Carson-Newman College in 2007. He attended Nashville School of Law in 2008, and graduated from Jefferson State Community College of Funeral Service Education in 2009. He is employed at Rose Mortuary, Knoxville, and attends Smithwood Baptist Church.
