Smith 50th wedding anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy L. (Thelma Spencer) Smith celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by taking a cruise to the Eastern Caribbean Islands. Their wedding ceremony was performed by the Rev. Willie Jennings, in Gate City, Va., on July 25, 1960.They are the parents of Stephen Smith, and Allison Roberts Arrington and husband Brian. They are the proud grandparents of Kristen Roberts, and Dustin and Samantha Arrington.Jim retired from Eastman Chemical Co. and Thelma is employed by the Nathan Vaughn Agency, State Farm Insurance. Leisure time includes golf for Jim and travel for both. They are active members of Indian Springs Baptist Church.God game them a special love to share ... because He knew how much they would cherish it.
Misciagna and Crawford marriage announcement
Lauren Beth Crawford of Fall Branch, and Joseph Richard Misciagna of Kingsport, were married Oct. 9, 2010, at The Oaks Castle, Johnson City. The Rev. Jeff Strong officiated at the 5 p.m. outdoor ceremony.The bride is the daughter of Gale and Carol Crawford of Fall Branch, and the granddaughter of Juanita Sams and the late James Sams, and Bill Crawford and the late Juanita Crawford. The bridegroom is the son of Mike and Enza Misciagna of Kingsport, and the the grandson of Joseph and Dora Misciagna, and the late Joseph and Angela Mattera. The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted to the altar by her father. Sonya Whetsel, cousin of the bride, directed the wedding. Shannon Barnett served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Colleen Barnett; Leslie Crawford, sister-in-law of the bride; Stacie Hughes; Katie Sams and Shelley Sams, cousins of the bride. Flower girls were Grace Misciagna and Emilia Monno, cousins of the bridegroom. Savanna Misciagna, cousin of the bridegroom, kept the bride's book.Andrew Begley served as best man. Groomsmen were Ryan Begley; Evan Crawford, brother of the bride; Joseph Mattera, cousin of the bridegroom; and Daniel and Michael Misciagna, brothers of the bridegroom. Giovanni Misciagna, cousin of the bridegroom, was ring bearer. The bride graduated from Sullivan South High School and Northeast State Community College. She attended King College.The bridegroom graduated from Sullivan South High School, attended East Tennessee State College and is serving in the U.S. Air Force.
James B. Nix 100th birthday
James B. Nix, who also is known as Jim, Jay and J.B., will celebrate his 100th birthday with a reception to be held in his honor from 2 to 4 p.m., Dec. 12, 2010 at Asbury Place at Baysmont, 100 Netherland Lane, Kingsport.Light refreshments will be served.The presence of family and friends is the only gift requested.

The bridegroom is employed at Tele-Optics.Following a wedding trip to Pigeon Forge, Tenn., the couple resides in Jonesborough.
