Fred Hensley 90th birthday
Fred Hensley celebrated his 90th birthday with a party at Gardner Farm on the Holston River, June 19, 2010, with family and friends.He is the father of Ralph Hensley and Gary Hensley.Fred is a World War II veteran and a graduate of Hiltons High School.Fred would like to thank God for giving him 90 years and may this be the best birthday of all and may many follow. He would like to thank all the special people who came to help celebrate this special event.
Rosa Culbertson 100th birthday
Rosa Culbertson of Kingsport, will celebrate her 100th birthday with a reception to be held in her honor from 2 to 5 p.m. today, Sept. 5, 2010, at her home, 709 Teasel Drive.Friends and family are invited to come by and share her birthday cake and visit with her.Mrs. Culbertson, the oldest member of Higher Ground Baptist Church, is the mother of Dana Warner of Kingsport; Oneta Ashbrook of Abingdon, Va.; Guy Castle of Castlewood, Va.; and Roger Castle of Bristol. She has 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren.No gifts please.
Ketron 50th wedding anniversary
Wallace and Nina Ketron celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 4, 2010, with a reception at Crown Colony Clubhouse.The event was hosted by their children and grandchildren.The couple was married on Sept. 8, 1960, at Goshen Valley Church of God, Church Hill.Wallace and Nina are the parents of Wally of Kingsport, Phil of Blountville, and Gina Williams of Winter Haven, Fla.Wallace retired as superintendent of Sullivan County Schools. Nina was a registered nurse with most of her experience in health-care administration.
Stout 50th wedding anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. A.J. (Barbara Jean Lawson) Stout of Kingsport, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their family and grandkids.The couple was married Sept. 3, 1960, at West View Baptist Church, Kingsport, with the Rev. Dana Crawford officiating. Wilma Lawson Mullins served her sister as maid of honor, and Fred Brooks served his brother-in-law as best man. The couple spent their honeymoon at Pine Mountain State Lodge in Kentucky.They are the parents of Ginger Wilson and Julie Lewis of Gray. They are the grandparents of Jason Harkleroad, Cody Wilson, Hannah Duncan, Heather Lewis and Alex Lewis.Mr. Stout attended Evarts High School, Harlan, Ky. He was employed at Oakwood Super Market for 42 years and then at Food City, from which he retired.Mrs. Stout attended Lynn View High School, Kingsport. She was employed at Kingsport Press and is now a homemaker.Congratulations! We love you, Mom and Dad, Nana and Papaw.
Elliott and Campbell wedding announcement
Sarah Ashley Elliott of Kingsport, and Justin Shaun Campbell of Kingsport, plan to be married at 5:30 p.m., Sept. 4, 2010, at Maple Lane Farm, Johnson City.The bride-elect is the daughter of Mike and Diane Elliott of Kingsport, and the granddaughter of Thelmus and Kathleen Blevins of Jefferson, N.C., and the late Paul and Helen Elliott, formerly of Jefferson, N.C. She graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School in 1999 and in 2003 from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, where she was a member of Psi Chi Honor Society and Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She is employed as a life enrichment coordinator at Wellington Place of Colonial Heights.The bridegroom-to-be is the son of James and Maggie Campbell of Kingsport, and the grandson of Margaret McCoy, the late Robert McCoy, and the late Clarence and Emma Campbell. He graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School in 1997, and in 2001 from the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa, where he was a member of the American Marketing Association and served as an ambassador for the university. He is employed at Allied Waste Services and is a member of the University of Alabama Alumni Association.
