Cassandra Leigh Noe of Surgoinsville, and Joshua William Jasper Rose of Norton, Va., plan to be married at 2 p.m., Oct. 2, 2010, at the New Canton Plantation, Church Hill.The bride-elect is the daughter of Wayne and Barbara Noe of Surgoinsville, and the granddaughter of Myrtle Barrett, the late Ernest Barrett, Mae Noe and the late Robert Noe, all of Surgoinsville. She is a 2002 graduate of Volunteer High School and a 2006 summa cum laude graduate of East Tennessee State University, where she received a bachelor of science degree in digital media and a minor in art.The bridegroom-to-be is the son of Randall Rose of Norton, Va., and Katherine Rose of Coeburn. He is the grandson of Sereptha Hill of Coeburn, the late Preston Hill formerly of Coeburn, and the late Jasper and London Rose, formerly of Clinchco, Va. He is a 2000 graduate of Clintwood High School, a 2003 graduate of Mountain Empire Community College, and a 2006 graduate of East Tennessee State University, where he received a bachelor of science degree in digital media and a minor in art. He is employed at Logisticare, Norton.

Julia Francisco 90th birthday
Julia Francisco celebrated her 90th birthday on Sept. 11, 2010, with a party with family and friends at Emeritus at Kingsport.The event was hosted by her daughters, Brenda Wilson and husband Cal, and Frances Dryden and husband Allen.Special entertainment was provided by Tammy Marshall of Knoxville, Tenn., who revisited the '50s with music, song and dance.Mrs. Francisco has six grandchildren, Allen Dryden of Greenville, S.C.; Nick Dryden of Nashville, Tenn.; Angela Lovin of Jacksonville, Fla.; Brandon Linton and Cortny Eorgan of Johnson City, Tenn.; Ben Wilson of Smyrna, Ga.; and Heath Wilson of Marietta, Ga. She also has 14 great-grandchildren.Julia was married to H.L. Francisco, now deceased, for 62 wonderful years. She has numerous cousins, nieces and nephews who came to enjoy the happy occasion and to celebrate and revisit her life through photos.The outpouring of love, the many who had traveled for miles, the special entertainment of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and residents all made it a special day to remember for Julia.She is most grateful for the 90 special years she has enjoyed with the love and friendship from family and friends, and the staff at Emeritus.
Barnes 55th wedding anniversary
Robert and Lena (Rogers) Barnes of Kingsport, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary the first week of September.The couple was married Sept. 4, 1955, at Belvue Christian Church with the Rev. Stuart K. Widner officiating.Robert retired from Kroger Co. and then worked nine years part-time for Christian and Co. Food Brokerage.Lena was employed at United Inter-Mountain Telephone Co.Robert and Lena are members of Belvue Christian Church.

Lillian McKinney. She graduated from Furman University and is employed as a design associate at Margaret Donaldson Interiors.The bridegroom-to-be is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Wayne Luff of Blountville, and the grandson of Lee Edward Orr of Johnson City, the late Clyde Howell Orr, Clara Alderson Luff of Mansfield, Ohio, and the late Basil Burns Luff. He graduated from East Tennessee State University Quillen College of Medicine and Internal Medicine Residency of Medical University of South Carolina. He is a cardiology fellow at Medical University of South Carolina.
