Alley 40th wedding anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Carl "Shorty" (Patty Gilreath) Alley of Church Hill, will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary Nov. 28, 2010.The couple was married Nov. 28, 1970, at First Freewill Baptist Church, Church Hill.They are the parents of Megan Vannoy and Will Alley of Church Hill. They are the grandparents of Lucas Vannoy.Mr. Alley retired from Alley & Associates. Mrs. Alley is employed by Eastman Credit Union.
George Glen Miller 90th birthday
George Glen Miller, known to many as Doc Miller, was surprised by family and close friends Nov. 27, 2010, who arrived to celebrate George's 90th birthday and to toast his life with cake and trimmings at hand.Having grown up in Dandridge, serving in World War II, completing college and pharmacy school, George started his career in Greeneville. After transferring to Kingsport, he retired from CVS, having worked previously at Revco and Cole Drug. He devoted 44 years to being a pharmacist.George and his wife, Frances, now live near Greeneville. Ever perky and still with a mischievous eye, George keeps active tending his garden and lawn, always reading (of course that is while simultaneously watching TV) and keeping Frances on her toes. Happy birthday, Dad!
Forest G. Knuckles 106th birthday
Forest G. Knuckles will celebrate his 106th birthday today, Nov. 28, 2010. He was born in Carterton, Va., and moved to Indianapolis in the 1920s. He worked for Bowen Construction for 44 years. He also taught ballroom dancing during the Depression.Forest moved to Kingsport, in 1995. He is in good health and still lives alone and enjoys playing bingo and going out for dinner. He is a member of St. Paul Methodist Church, Piney Flats. A birthday celebration will be held in his honor from 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, at Pinebrook Place Community Center.Your presence is the only gift requested.
Light 25th wedding anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. William R. "Bill" (Robin Trent) Light of Kingsport, will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary with an open reception to be held in their honor from 2 to 4 p.m., Dec. 11, 2010, at Lynn Garden Baptist Church.The event is being hosted by their children and family.The couple was married Dec. 14, 1985, at Lynn Garden Baptist Church, with the Rev. Milliard Porter officiating.They are the parents of Wesley Aaron Light and Preston Trent Light.

The bridegroom is the son of Herman and Nikki Nell of San Diego, Calif., and the grandson of Julia Serdyn of Somerset West, South Africa, the late Jurgens Serdyn, the late Herman Nell, formerly of Stellenbosch, South Africa, and the late Mara Dannhauser, formerly of Meyerton, South Africa.The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted to the altar by her father.Jessica Harkins, friend of the bride, of Dayton, Ohio, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Dr. Jessie McCullough of Dallas, Texas, and Melissa Santilli of Metuchen, N.J., friends of the bride.Erich Nell, brother of the bridegroom, of Los Angeles, Calif., served as best man. The bride graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School and received a bachelor of science degree in graphic communications from Clemson University. She is employed by Esko Graphics of Gent, Belgium.The bridegroom graduated from Lake Zurich High School, Lake Zurich, Ill., and received a bachelor of science degree in marketing and finance from DePaul University. He is employed by Accenture.Following a wedding cruise to the Mediterranean, the couple is residing in Chicago.
