Robert "Bob" McNutt of Kingsport, celebrated his 90th birthday on Jan. 15, 2011, with family and friends.In attendance was his wife Ruth, along with his two daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Alan Pairgin, and Gail and David Marshall.Bob is a World War II veteran and proudly served his country in the European theater.
Orval Lee Quisenberry 90th birthday
Orval Lee Quisenberry celebrated his 90th birthday Jan. 22, 2011, with a reception held in his honor at 6 p.m., at a Kingsport restaurant.The event was hosted by his two sons.Mr. Quisenberry was born Jan. 27, 1921, in Gary, W.Va. He was married to Helen (Peters) Quisenberry for nearly 66 years, until she passed away in June 2007.He is the father of Steve Quisenberry of Kingsport, and David Quisenberry and wife Pat of Kingsport. He is the grandfather of Amy Wilkinson and husband Shawn, Brian Quisenberry and wife Kristen, Andrew Quisenberry and Eric Quisenberry. He is the great-grandfather of Bella Wilkinson.Mr. Quisenberry was employed at Tennessee Eastman (Kodak) Co. for almost 47 years and retired in 1986 after serving 45 years in the engineering division, where he designed air conditioning systems.He is a member of Higher Ground Baptist Church, where he sings in the choir. He is an avid table tennis player, winning the Gold Medal National Championship for his age category in the 1990 Senior Olympics, as well as previously winning the Tri-City Championship once and the Tennessee Eastman Championship four times.
Owens and Taylor wedding announcement
Sierra Marilyn Owens of Church Hill, and Joshua Daniel Taylor of Abingdon, Va., plan to be married in a private ceremony Jan. 28, 2011, at First Baptist Church of Church Hill.The bride-elect is the daughter of Coy and Angie Owens of Church Hill, and the granddaughter of Wallace and Neville Ann Owens of Church Hill, and Phyllis Dean of Mount Carmel and the late Thomas Dean. She graduated magna cum laude with a degree in biology from East Tennessee State University, where she was a member of Baptist Collegiate Ministry and the American Society of Microbiology. She is employed as a lab technician at Eastman Chemical Co.The bridegroom-to-be is the son of Sherry and Danny Taylor of Abingdon, and the grandson of Ron Taylor of Welch, W.Va., the late Ann Taylor, and Sue and Charles Patton of Gary, W.Va. He plans to graduate with a degree in biology from ETSU in May. He is employed as a retail parts manager at Advance Auto.
Hickman 50th wedding anniversary
Donald R. and Brenda Irene (Steadman) Hickman of Kingsport, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with an open reception held in their honor from 2 to 4 p.m., Jan. 8, 2011, at South View Park Building.The event was hosted by their family and attended by family and friends.The couple was married Jan. 8, 1961, in Gaffney, S.C., with Judge Douglas officiating.They are the parents of Duane Hickman and wife Stacey and Donna Bryant and husband David. They are the grandparents of Nicholas Hickman, Zachary Hickman, Drew Bryant and Jake Bryant.Mr. Hickman retired from Brick Delivery Co.Mrs. Hickman is a housewife.
Ball and Patton marriage announcement

Steve Warren officiated at the 5 p.m. ceremony.The bride is the daughter of Kenny and Vicki Patton of Kingsport, and the granddaughter of Thelma Evans of Kingsport, the late Ralph Morrison, and the late Nick and Mabel Patton. The bridegroom is the son of Joe and Tammy Ball of Kingsport, and the grandson of Lois Alexander of Greeneville, the late John Alexander, and Cecil and Charlene Ball of Port Charlotte, Fla.The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted to the altar by her father.Jennifer Duncan, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Danielle Ball, sister of the bridegroom, Anna Farmer, Lori Layne, Kaitlyn Lorick, Rachel Moore and Staci Turner. Arianna Wiggins, cousin of the bride, was flower girl.Adam Free served as best man. Groomsmen were J.T. Chadwell, Ethan Frazier, Drew Pierce, D.J. Wade, Tyler Warren and Lewis Wilson. Jayden Soter, cousin of the bride, was ring bearer.The bride graduated from Clemson University and is employed at Eastman Credit Union.The bridegroom graduated from Sullivan South High School and is employed at Sloopy's.Following a wedding trip to Key West, Fla., the couple resides in Mount Carmel.
