He graduated from East Tennessee State University Quillen College of Medicine and Internal Medicine Residency of Medical University of South Carolina. He is a cardiology fellow at Medical University of South Carolina.

He graduated from Scott County High School in 2003. He was deployed from March 2009 until March 2010, serving as a Spc. 4 in the U.S. Army Reserves.
