Huffman 60th wedding anniversary
Clarence and Katherine (East) Huffman of Kingsport, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary July 1, 2010.Mr. and Mrs. Huffman are the parents of Karen Krantz of Kingsport, and the late Gregory Huffman.Their anniversary was celebrated with family members including their three great-grandchildren, Lauren, Landon and Ben, at a cabin in the mountains.Mr. Huffman is a retired insurance agent and Baptist minister. Mrs. Huffman is a retired bookkeeper.The couple was married July 1, 1950, at Gardner's Chapel Church, Bristol, Va.
McNeely and Beach wedding
Dr. Elizabeth Anne Beach of Rogersville, Tenn., and Dr. David Eugene McNeely III of Elizabethton, Tenn., were married June 5, 2010, at Rogersville Presbyterian Church, Rogersville. The Rev. Mr. Robert G. White officiated at the 5 p.m. ceremony.The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ron Allan Beach, of Rogersville, and the granddaughter of the late Beatrice Price Dykes and Walter L. Miner, and the late Paul and Joanne Beach. The bridegroom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. David Eugene McNeely Jr., of Elizabethton, and the grandson of Dolores Hart and the late Richard Hart, and David Eugene McNeely and the late Marie McNeely.Harpist, Kayla Neikirk, performed during the prelude music and the procession of the bride was "Highland Cathedral" played by piper, Jon Shell.Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a lace and organdy designer gown. The ballgown featured a lace sweetheart neckline and an organdy skirt with a matching lace scallop hem. The skirt extended into a chapel-length train. The fingertip-length veil was trimmed with matching lace. Whitney Beach Pinkston, sister of the bride, of Rogersville, was matron of honor. Heather Camille Reasons, close friend of the bride, of Alamo, Tenn., was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Erin Edwards Barry of Washington D.C., and Christina Bass Elrod, of Knoxville, Tenn. Honorary bridesmaids were Brooke Barker of Raleigh, N.C.; Katie Lawson of Saint Simons Island, Ga.; Megan Price Barnard of Talbott, Tenn.; and Jessica Lee of Rogersville. The bridesmaids' dresses were floor-length gowns in marine blue with sweetheart necklines.Wilton Hart McNeely of Memphis, Tenn., served his brother as best man. Groomsmen were Philip Ryan Miller of Raleigh; Scott Matthew Castle of Miami, Fla.; and Collins Walker Rainey of Memphis. Ushers were Jarrod Ellis of Elizabethton; Vikram Saini of New Orleans, La.; and Dillon Barker of Nashville, Tenn. The bridegroom, along with his grandfather, father and brother, wore vests and cummerbunds made of the MacNeil of Barra family Scottish tartan.Following the ceremony, the bride and bridegroom were driven to the reception at The General Morgan Inn in Greeneville, Tenn., in a 1964 Austin London Taxi. A 10-piece band, The Atlanta Showstoppers, provided entertainment while guests enjoyed a sit-down dinner and danced the night away. The bride graduated from Cherokee High School in 2001, received a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from Virginia Tech in 2005, and graduated from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center with a doctorate of pharmacy in 2009. Elizabeth is completing a fellowship in heart failure research at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC.The bridegroom graduated from Elizabethton High School in 1999, received a bachelor of science degree in biomedical engineering in 2004 from the University of Tennessee, and received a master's of science degree in biomedical engineering from Virginia Tech in 2006. David graduated in May 2010 from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center with a doctorate of medicine and is an internal medicine resident at University of North Carolina Health Care in Chapel Hill.The couple celebrated their marriage with a honeymoon to Providenciales in the Turk and Caicos Islands and returned to Durham, N.C., where they now reside.
Mullins and Cassell wedding
Leslie Anne Cassell of Kingsport, and Hunter Blake Mullins of Kingsport, were married June 17, 2010, in St. Lucia. The Rev. Leslie Burch officiated at the 11 a.m. ceremony.The bride is the daughter of Michael and Karen Cassell of Kingsport, and the granddaughter of Phyllis Cassell of Gate City, Va., the late Tommy Cassell, Robert and Sharron Fraysier of Kingsport, and the late Jay Burchette. The bridegroom is the son of Bruce and Donna Mullins of Kingsport, and the grandson of Fred and Patricia Mullins of Rogersville, Helen Parris of Kingsport, and Buster Parris of Tallahasee, Fla.The bride graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School and East Tennessee State University. She will graduate from East Tennessee State University with a master's degree in English in December 2010. She is employed at East Tennessee State University as a graduate assistant.The bridegroom graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School and East Tennessee State University. He received a master's degree in education from Milligan College in July 2009. He is employed at John Sevier Middle School as director of bands.The couple will reside in Kingsport.
