Helen "Louise" Jones 90th birthday
On March 3, 2011, Helen "Louise" Jones will celebrate her 90th birthday. She was born in Keeoke, Va. Moving to Kingsport, in 1946, Louise became a teacher, Sunday school teacher and homemaker. She loves flowers, gardens, reading, Fox News and to love on her family. Pendergrass 50th wedding anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Haynes (Jewell Hudson) Pendergrass of Blountville will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open reception to be held in their honor from 2 to 4 p.m., March 5, 2011, in the fellowship hall at Cassidy United Methodist Church.The event is being hosted by their children.The couple was married March 17, 1961, at Cassidy United Methodist Church with the Rev. Morgan Phillips officiating.They are the parents of Bill (Cathy) Pendergrass of Bryan, Texas; Lisa (Gary) Rupert of Kingsport, and Wendi (Craig) Niebruegge of Kingsport.They are the grandparents of Erica (Jim) Adcock, Aaron Faith, Andy (Kara) Pendergrass, Dusty Pendergrass, Alyssa Rupert, Gabriella Rupert, Emma Grace Niebruegge, Rachel Niebruegge and Maggie Niebruegge.Mr. Pendergrass retired from Sprint after 43 years of service and Tennessee National Guard after 24 years of service. He is a director for the Farm Bureau and now farms because of his love for the land and animals. Mrs. Pendergrass is a retired school bus driver for Sullivan County Schools and is active in FCE and Farm Bureau. They attend Cassidy UMC where they have been active members for 50 years.Friends and family are invited to come join them in celebration of this event.
Hill 50th wedding anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hill of Church Hill, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Jan. 28, 2011. The couple was married Jan. 28, 1961, in Gate City, Va., with the Rev. Robert Rademacher officiating.They are the parents of Rhonda Hill of Church Hill; David Hill and wife, Tracie, of Church Hill, and Joseph Hill of Kingsport. They are the grandparents of Kasey Carter, and Bryant, Drew, Ryan and Olivia Hill.Mr. Hill retired from Holliston Mills in 2001, after 40 years of service.A reception will be held in their honor from 3 to 5 p.m., Feb. 26, 2011, in the fellowship hall at First Free Will Baptist Church, 208 Maple Ave., Church Hill. Peters and Robinette marriage announcement
Kara Lashay Peters and Aaron Sky Robinette were married Sept. 18, 2010. Mike Baird officiated at the 6:15 p.m., ceremony at Agota Springs.The bride is the daughter of Mike and Debbie Peters of Kingsport, and the granddaughter of Ken Gouge of Myrtle Beach; Jean and Robert Berry of Watauga, Tenn.; E.S. Peters of Kingsport and the late Tennessee Peters. The bridegroom is the son of Tisha Deakins of Myrtle Beach, Marvin Tolly of Kingsport, and Jeff and Kim Robinette of Big Stone Gap, Va. He is the grandson of Mary Anne Robinette of Big Stone Gap, the late B.F. Robinette, Sally Peters of Kingsport, the late Lester Peters, Marvin Tolly of Kingsport and the late Aileen Tolly. Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore an elegant, strapless diamond-white dress with a fitted bodice. The back of the gown was uniquely designed with shimmering crystals extending into the chapel-length train. She carried a fresh bouquet of Gerber daisies, pink and cream mini-callas, dahlias, freesia, white phlox and ranunculus tied with satin and adorned with Swarovski crystals. Lasha Short, friend of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Kendra Michelle Sensabaugh and Shawna Malaine Peters, sisters of the bride. Each bride attendant wore a charcoal-colored floor-length gown and carried a fresh flower bouquet. The bridegroom's brother, Evvan Tolly, served as best man. Groomsmen were Marvin Tolly, father of the bridegroom, and Josh Bell, friend of the bridegroom. The bride graduated from Sullivan South High School and received a bachelor of science degree in nursing from East Tennessee State University. She is employed as an RN at Johnson City Medical Center.The bridegroom graduated from Sullivan South High School and attended Maryville College and Northeast State Community College. He is employed as an EMT/firefighter for the Kingsport Fire Department. Showers were given by Lasha Short, friend of the bride, and friends at Johnson City Medical Center.The wedding reception immediately followed at Agota Springs, Kingsport.Following the honeymoon in Key West, Fla., the couple resides in Piney Flats.

She is employed as a LPN at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital, Kingsport.The bridegroom-to-be is the son of Lewis and Becky Smith of Big Stone Gap, and the grandson of the late Arthur and Novina Smith, formerly of Derby, Va.; and the late Leon and Ruby Fox, formerly of East Stone Gap, Va. He graduated from Powell Valley High School in 2000, and is employed at Coca Cola Consolidated.
