Nell H. Echerd 90th birthday
On March 17, 2011, Nell H. Echerd will celebrate her 90th birthday.Born Mary Nell Holloway in Fuqua-Varina, N.C., on March 17, 1921, she worked in Raleigh, N.C., where she met her future husband, Pat Echerd. They were married in June 1941, and moved to Kingsport in 1947. Before his death in 2003, they enjoyed more than 61 years of marriage.Mrs. Echerd was an avid golfer and tennis player until age 87. Currently, she loves reading, gardening, playing bridge and being with friends and family. She has been an active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church since 1947.She is the mother of David Echerd of Kingsport, and Diane Echerd of Murfreesboro. She has three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.A celebration party will be given by David and Caroline Echerd.Happy birthday, Mom! We love you!
Owens 50th anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Danny (Barbara Pullon) Owens of Blountville, Tenn., celebrated their 50th anniversary on March 10, 2011.The couple was married March 10, 1961 at Indian Springs Baptist Church, Kingsport Tenn.They are the parents of Rick Owens and wife Patty of Kingsport, and Tina Seaver and husband Brian of Blountville.They are the grandparents of Chelsey and Tanner Owens, and Brandon and Brittany Seaver.Mr. Owens retired from Eastman Chemical Co.Mrs. Owens retired from Mitchell Powers Hardware Co.They are both members of Gunnings Baptist Church.
Stephens 50th wedding anniversary
Mr. and Mrs Harris (Barbara Burks) Stephens Jr. of Kingsport will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on March 14, 2011.The couple was married on March 14, 1961.They are the parents of Bruce (Cathy) Stephens of Greer, S.C.; Robyn (Marc) Budine of Coral Springs, Fla.; and Scott (Lacey) Stephens of Orange Park, Fla.They are the grandparents of Luke Stephens, Laney Stephens, Leah Stephens, Taylor Budine, Ansley Stephens and Ryan Stephens.Mr. Stephens retired from Eastman Chemical Co. after more than 30 years of service with Tennessee Eastman, a division of Kodak, and Eastman Chemical Co. His final seven years of service took him and his wife to Japan and Singapore where they enjoyed extensive travel to all parts of the world.Mr. and Mrs. Stephens attend First Broad Street United Methodist Church in Kingsport.Their children will host a celebration on June 11, 2011, that will be open to friends and family.
Patsy Jones 85th birthday
Patsy Jones will celebrate her 85th birthday on March 6, 2011. She was born on March 6, 1926 in Simsboro, La.She is the mother of Malissa Ajeti of California, Roger Rowland of Flagstaff Ariz., Shelby Rowland of Kingsport Tenn., and Carolyn Wampler of Kingsport.Patsy has six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was employed at Erwin City Schools and Kingsport City Schools for 34 years. She is a member of First Baptist Church, Retired Teachers Association, DAR and Sullivan County Democratic Women.

The bust line featured an architectural crumb-catcher and embroidered inset.Ali Beavers, sister of the bride, of Kingsport, Tenn., was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Lori Steffey of Morristown, Tenn.; Jenny Gomez of Charlotte, N.C.; Alyson Argabrite of Nashville, Tenn.; Stephanie Hickam of Kingsport, Tenn.; and Kelli Rogers of Kingsport, Tenn.Shane Thompson of Wilmington, N.C., served as best man. Groomsmen were Tony Rizzuto, brother of the bridegroom, of Wilmington, N.C.; Alex Rizzuto, brother of the bridegroom, of Wilmington, N.C.; Ben Campbell of Wildwood, N.J.; Alex Gregory of Great Falls, Va.; and Justin Loyd of Raleigh, N.C.A reception was held at Rumbling Bald Resort, Lake Lure, N.C.The bride graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School and Gardner-Webb University where she was a member of the women's tennis team. She is employed at Centercourt Athletic Club, Chatham, N.J.The bridegroom graduated from Hoggard High School and Gardner-Webb University where he was a member of the baseball team. He is employed at Centercourt Athletic Club, Chatham, N.J.Following a wedding trip to Greece, Italy, France, Spain and Turkey, the couple resides in Madison, N.J.
