She graduated from Sullivan South High School in 2006, and received an associate of applied science degree in business management technology from Northeast State Community College in 2010.The bridegroom-to-be is the son of Kathryn L. Bowen and Larry Horner, and the stepson of Ivan E. Bowen. He is the grandson of the late Hubert L. and Colleen Short. He graduated from Volunteer High School in 2006.

She graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School in 2004, and received a bachelor's degree in pharmaceutical sciences from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, from which she will receive a doctor of pharmacy degree in May 2011. Following graduation, she will begin a pharmacy practice residency in ambulatory care at Moses Cone Health System, Greensboro, N.C.The bridegroom-to-be is the son of Parke and Sue Land of Richmond, Va., and the grandson of Lucille Young of Fairfax, Va., the late Robert Young, Dorothy Land of Richmond, and the late Norman Land. He graduated from Jamestown High School, Williamsburg, in 1999, and received a bachelor's degree in economics and environmental sciences from the University of Virginia in 2003. He received a juris doctorate from the University of Richmond in 2007. He is an associate attorney at Clement and Wheatley, Danville, Va.

Melba Bennett Fox Biles celebrated her 90th birthday at a Hidden Mountain Villa in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. Helping her celebrate were her children, Charlotte and Bill Honeycutt, and Jim and Judy Fox. Doing what she loves to do most, she enjoyed lots of fun and laughter. She was born April 19, 1921 in Jonesborough.She has also been richly blessed with a wonderful church, Homeland Baptist; four grandsons, Michael and Steven Honeycutt, and Jimmy and Jason Fox; and seven great-grandchildren, Cody, Jonathan, Tyler and Andrew Honeycutt, and Bradley, Greyson and Brittany Fox.

He is the son of Kerry and Nedra Jackson of Church Hill, and the grandson of Betty (McLimore) Jackson of Owensboro, Ky.; the late Paul Jackson, formerly of Owensboro; and the late George "Will" Lyons and Wilma (Poe) Lyons, formerly of Church Hill.The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted to the altar by her father. The son of the bridegroom accompanied the couple in a spiritual ceremony of unity.The bride is a 1996 graduate of Volunteer High School. She graduated from Wampler's Kingsport Beauty School and in 2002, received a bachelor of business administration degree from East Tennessee State University, where she was a member of Sigma Kappa sorority. In May 2011, she will obtain a bachelor of science-nursing degree from King College, where she plans to pursue a master's degree in nursing as a family nurse practitioner. She is employed by Shear Elegance Day Spa and Salon, and by Brookhaven Manor.The bridegroom is a 1998 graduate of Volunteer High School. He is employed with Norfolk Southern Railroad.The couple resides in Church Hill.
