Mr. and Mrs. Luther E. Kneece of Gilbert, S.C., are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Miss Tara Frances Kneece to Mr. Matthew Joseph Denton, both of Clemson, S.C. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David L. Denton of Kingsport, Tenn.The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. N. Everette Kneece of Gilbert, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Rabon Jr., formerly of Gilbert. She is a graduate of Gilbert High School and received a bachelor of science degree in financial management from Clemson University. The bridegroom-elect is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Denton of Abingdon, Va., and the late Mr. and Mrs. A.W. Jobe, formerly of Corinth, Miss. He is a graduate of Sullivan South High School, Kingsport, and received a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Clemson University.Matt and Tara serve on staff at Crosspoint Church in Clemson, S.C., and both are pursuing master of divinity degrees from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.The wedding ceremony is planned for Dec. 11, 2010, at Crosspoint Church.
Jones and Cook engagement announcement
Heather Nicole Jones of Elizabethton, and John Lafe Cook of Kingsport, plan to be married in December 2010, in Kingsport.The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Shirley and Earl Grindstaff of Elizabethton, and the daughter of Bob and Becky Jones of Gray. She is pursuing a doctorate of education at East Tennessee State University, where she was a member of the first graduating class of Roan Scholars. She is a graduate assistant for ETSU's Center for Appalachian Studies and Services.The bridegroom-to-be is the son of Dr. John E. Cook of Page, Ariz., and Marjorie Cook of Cortez, Colo. He is the director of Dobyns-Bennett High School Band. He is a past president of the Tennessee Bandmasters Association, on the board of directors of the National Band Association, state band chair for Tennessee Music Educators Association, and the youngest elected member of the American Bandmasters Association.
Ramey 50th wedding anniversary
Conley and Barbara (Bishop) Ramey of Kingsport, marked their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 26, 2010.A celebration was held Aug. 28, 2010, at Homeland Baptist Church's Carter Hall.The event was hosted by family and friends.Thanks to each one who attended and made it such a memorable occasion. Mr. Ramey is owner and operator of R&R Auto. Mrs. Ramey retired from the City of Kingsport.
Shanks 50th wedding anniversary
Kenneth and Beulah Shanks will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open reception to be held in their honor from 2 to 5 p.m., Dec. 4, 2010 at the Public Price Community Center, Rogersville.The event is being hosted by their family.Ken and Beulah were married on Dec. 2, 1960 in Gate City, Va.They are the parents of Robert Shanks and wife Ester of Surgoinsville, Roger Shanks of Rogersville, and the late Richard Shanks. They are the grandparents of Kimberly Shanks, Genna Shanks, Brenda Swinson and husband Josh, Leslie Shanks, Austin Shanks, and Drew Shanks and wife Makala. They are the step-grandparents of Nicole Copeland. They have five great-grandsons, two great-granddaughters and one step-great-granddaughter.They are members of Looney's Chapel Baptist Church, Surgoinsville, where Ken serves as a deacon.Ken retired from Brooks Excavating, Kingsport. Beulah retired from Goody's, Rogersville. The couple resides on Stanley Valley Road, Surgoinsville, where they now enjoy retired life.No one could ask for better role models to have in life than Ken and Beulah. As parents, grandparents and great-grandparents, they have always been loving and supportive.Through their 50 years together, they have shared a lot of wonderful life experiences. Along the way, they have had their share of heartaches as well. Through it all, they have relied on their faith in God to carry them through. We, the family, believe that this is the best "life value" that they could have ever instilled in us.This reception is being held to celebrate Ken and Beulah's 50 years together as husband and wife.
