Kimberly Ann Womack of Beatrice, Ala., and James Blake Houser of Kingsport, were married Dec. 11, 2010, at First Baptist Church, Opelika, Ala. The Rev. Steve Scoggins officiated at the 4 p.m. ceremony.The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Larry Womack Sr. of Beatrice, and the granddaughter of James Alvin Black Jr. of Beatrice, the late Mrs. James Alvin Black Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Elwood Womack of Camden, Ala. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Jeffrey Houser of Kingsport, and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Marshall Wheeler Sr., of Kingsport, and Mr. and Mrs. Allen Louis Houser of Kingsport.The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted to the altar by her father.Noelle Bradley was matron of honor. Brittany Lea was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Catherine Black, cousin of the bride; Heather Houser, sister of the bridegroom, and Emily Layfield, friend of the bride. Kharigan Womack, niece of the bride was flower girl.Mark Houser served his son as best man. Groomsmen were Tanner Davis, friend of the bridegroom; William Womack, brother of the bride; Travis Bauguess, friend of the bridegroom and Brett Summar, friend of the bridegroom. Ring bearers were Tyler Womack, nephew of the bride, and Luke Hale, friend of the bridegroom.The bride graduated from Auburn University. She is employed at Auburn Junior High School.The bridegroom graduated from Carson-Newman College, where he was a member of the men's varsity golf team. He is employed at Bradley Plumbing & Heating. Following a wedding trip to the Caribbean island of St. Lucia, the couple resides in Opelika.
Manis and Garretson wedding announcement
Ashley Lynn Manis of Rogersville and Rodney Lee Garretson of Morristown plan to be married in an open-church ceremony at 4 p.m., Jan. 8, 2011 at Howe's Chapel Baptist Church, 148 Howe's Chapel Road, Rogersville.The bride-elect is the daughter of the Rev. Tommy and Lisa Manis of Rogersville, and the granddaughter of Calvin and Jean Mauk of Surgoinsville, Betty Manis of Rogersville, and the late Rev. Hugh E Manis Jr. She graduated from Cherokee High School in 2005 and from Kingsport School of Beauty. She is attending Walters State Community College and is employed with Mastercuts in Morristown. The bridegroom-to-be is the son of Herbert Garretson of Morristown and Karen (David) Reed of Rutledge. He is the grandson of Opal Davis (Ed Childress) of Rutledge, the late R.B. Davis, and Robert and Bessie Pearl Garretson of Morristown. He graduated from Morristown East High School in 2006 and is attending King College. He is the owner/operator of Lakeside Lawncare & Tree Trimming and is employed at Howmet Castings.
Eula Armstrong 85th birthday
Eula Armstrong of Surgoinsville will turn 85 years old Jan. 4, 2011.She celebrated her birthday with her family earlier with a picnic and hay ride at a cabin on the Neil Miller farm, where she lived as a child.
Wilson 50th wedding anniversary
Harry and Pat (Harrison) Wilson recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a trip to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, with their children. They reside on Moody Drive in Kingsport.The couple was married in Trenton, Ga., on Nov. 28, 1960, and have two children, Pam Wilson of Kingsport, and Jeff Wilson of Gray.Harry retired from Mead Paper in 1995 after 33 years of service. Pat retired from City Finance in 1999 after 20 years of service.They are members of Gunnings Baptist Church.
Harr 75th wedding anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. John (Bonnie Rutledge) Harr of Kingsport, celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary Dec. 22, 2010.The couple was married Dec. 22, 1935, in Sullivan County, with the Rev. Dan Graham officiating.They are the parents of Virginia Harr Harr and husband Marvin Dale Harr of Kingsport, and the late Billy Roy Harr. They are the grandparents of Julie Harr Johnson and husband Dr. David R. Johnson of Kingsport; Tim D. Harr and wife Lisa Arnold Harr of Blountville, and Tammy Harr Wininger and husband Mark Wininger of Blountville. They are the great-grandparents of Sarah E. Johnson Cech and husband Thomas Cech of Prague, Czech Republic; Anna K. Johnson of Greenville, S.C.; David M. Johnson of Houston, Texas; Victoria C. Johnson of Kingsport; Meagan A. Harr and Travis D. Harr of Blountville; Brandon M. Wininger, Jarred M. Wininger, Madelyn F. Wininger and Aaron C.
