Townsend 50th wedding anniversary

The Lord has blessed Joe and Iva Mae Townsend with 50 years of marriage.They were married by the Rev. Roy Bowers, July 22, 1961, in Washington, D.C. They are wonderful parents to their daughter Pam Willis and her husband Bud, and devoted grandparents to their granddaughters, Amanda and Amber Willis.Joe worked for Roy Moore Trucking, Harris Trucking and retired from ABF Freight. Iva Mae retired from Canter Appliance. They are both members of Sullivan Baptist Church. Charlie and Ida Carberry Barnes had eight children. Iva Mae is the fifth of eight to share a 50th wedding anniversary. The others are James and Juanita Arnold, Billy and Freda Barnes, Kay and Reba Barnes and Kenneth and Norma Nell Hite.Clarence and Charlotte Townsend had four children. Joe is the second one to share a 50th wedding anniversary along with his brother Keys and wife, Jolene, Townsend.A drop-by reception will be held in honor of Joe and Iva Mae from 1 to 3 p.m., July 23, 2011, in the fellowship hall at Sullivan Baptist Church, 4152 Maplewood St., Kingsport.The only gift requested is the presence of family and friends.
