Bodie and King

Meghan Annette King and Davis Hughen Bodie of Knoxville, Tenn., were married July 13, 2013, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Knoxville. The Very Rev. David Alexander Boettner, V.G., officiated at the 3 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry King of Church Hill. She is the granddaughter of Erbia Messer of Charlotte, N.C., the late Bobbie M. Messer Sr., George King of Guntersville, Ala., and the late Delores King. She is a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and Emory & Henry College, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. She received a jurisprudence degree from Cumberland School of Law, Samford University, in Birmingham, Ala. She has her own law practice in Knoxville.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Bodie of Knoxville. He is the grandson of Patsy Ann Bodie of Knoxville, the late H. Jerry Bodie, Elizabeth McCabe of Knoxville, and the late Robert A. McCabe. He is a graduate of Knoxville Catholic High School and Emory & Henry College, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and a master’s in secondary education. He teaches middle school at Sacred Heart Cathedral School, Knoxville.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted to the altar by her father, the bride wore a strapless ivory gown of organza and tulle with a satin sash at the waist. The bodice was adorned with lace appliqués that carried down past the waist. The fingertip-length veil was trimmed with a satin ribbon edge.

The bride carried a bouquet of white gerbera daisies accented with white and pink roses. The stems of the roses were wrapped with satin ribbon and the lace from her mother’s wedding veil. Also attached were her late grandfather’s handkerchief that was embroidered with the name “Papa” and her late grandmother’s ring.

The bride’s attendants were Lisa Evans Bourne of Abingdon, Va., who served as matron of honor; LeRae Edwards Collins of Knoxville; Lauren Elizabeth Musick of Abingdon; Natalie Rouse East of Nashville, Tenn.; and Catherine Elizabeth Bodie, sister of the bridegroom, of New York City, N.Y.

The bridegroom’s attendants were Jerry Lee Bodie, father of the bridegroom, who served as best man; Benjamin Crawford Collins of Knoxville; Philip Anthony Icuss of Knoxville; Daniel Carrick Guinn of Culpepper, Va., and Robert Martin Bongers of York, Penn.

Readings were given by Joshua Paul Rector, friend of the bride; Patrick Moran Lorentz, cousin of the bridegroom; and Scott Jamie Baron, friend of the bridegroom. Cantor was Mary Beth Townsend. Robert Temple McCarter served as organist. Ushers were Grant Harrison Bodie, James Blake Bodie and Christopher Robert McCabe. Ring bearer was Brenon Gray Bodie. Ashley Billingsley Cross served as guest book attendant. Program attendants were Elizabeth Kathryn Harty and Kendall Logan Bodie. The wedding coordinator was Pam Owen.

Following the ceremony, the reception was given by the parents of the bride at Cherokee Country Club, Knoxville. Master of ceremonies/music was provided by Jim Ogle, Special Notes Entertainment.

The rehearsal dinner was given by the bridegroom’s parents at Cherokee Country Club on July 12, 2013.

Following a honeymoon to Jamaica, the couple resides in Knoxville.
