Davis and Hoover

Jennifer Wentworth Hoover of Kingsport, Tenn., and James Clement Davis III of Marion, S.C., were married Dec. 28, 2013 at First Broad Street United Methodist Church, Kingsport. The Rev. Mickey W. Rainwater officiated at the 6:30 p.m. candlelight ceremony. Music was provided by Mr. and Mrs. Ira Thomas Allen Jr., and Mr. Paul E. Patterson Jr.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bradley Ted Hoover of Kingsport, and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ted Hoover of Kingsport, and Mr. Myles Wentworth Whitlock Jr., and his late wife, Mrs. Corrie Miller Whitlock, of Spartanburg, S.C. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Clement Davis II of Marion, and the grandson of Mrs. Marion Edward Freeman and her late husband, Mr. Marion Edward Freeman, of Marion, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Davis, formerly of Centenary, S.C.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted to the altar by her father, the bride wore a designer all-lace wedding gown. The bodice featured a keyhole back with a satin ribbon and broach embellishment at the waist. The fit-and-flare skirt ended with a sweep train and a fingertip-length veil. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of white roses and green hypercium berries.

Mrs. Virginia Davis Hayes, sister of the bridegroom, of Greenville, S.C., was matron of honor. Mrs. Erin Jackson Wallen was the scripture reader. Bridesmaids were Miss Kathryn Lynne Larkins of Johnson City, Tenn.; Mrs. Kathryn Banner Madden of Greenville; Miss Sally Rose Meyer of Charlotte, N.C.; Miss Ashley Marie Mullinax of Rutherfordton, N.C.; and Miss Chesney Lynn Spivey of Nashville, Tenn.
Cousins of the bride, Miss Madeline Grace Looney of Kingsport; Miss Caroline Margaret Whitlock of Spartanburg, S.C.; Miss Hannah Eleanor Whitlock of Lilburn, Ga.; and Miss Hannah Jean Whitlock and Miss Sarah Elizabeth Whitlock of Falls Church, Va., served as program attendants.

Mr. James Clement Davis II served his son as best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Eric Walker Boatwright of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Mr. Christopher Daniel Hayes of Greenville; Mr. Bradley Ted Hoover Jr. of Greenville; and Mr. Stanley Dean Yarbrough of Easley, S.C. Cousins of the bride, Mr. Robert Calhoun Looney of Kingsport, Mr. Christopher Allan Whitlock Jr. and Mr. Corey Austin Whitlock of Lilburn; and Mr. Myles Wentworth Whitlock IV and Mr. Payton Kelly Whitlock of Spartanburg, S.C., were ushers.

A reception was held at Allandale Mansion, Kingsport. Orange Krush performed for the party.

The bride received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Clemson University, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority and served as a university tour guide. She received a master’s degree in gifted education from Converse College. She is employed as a kindergarten teacher in Greenville County Schools and is a member of the Junior League of Greenville.

The bridegroom received a bachelor’s degree in computer science and information technology and information systems security from Limestone College. He is employed as an analyst at Elliott Davis Inc., Greenville.

Following a wedding trip to the Grove Park Inn for the holidays, the couple will reside in Greenville, S.C.
