Machen and Yates

Meredith Evelyn Machen of Kingsport, and Steven Holden Yates of Goodlettsville, Tenn., plan to be married at 6 p.m., Sept. 14, 2013, at Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. John M. Machen of Kingsport, and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bevie L. Machen of Forrest City, Ark., Mr. and Mrs. William C. Cange of Drasco, Ark., and the late Evelyn Nell Cange. She received a degree in journalism from the University of Tennessee, where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority. She is employed as a news reporter for WCYB-TV.

The bridegroom-to-be is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Steven R. Yates of Goodlettsville, and the grandson of Dorothy Yates of Nashville, the late John T. Yates, and Mr. and Mrs. Carl E. Russ of Old Hickory, Tenn. He received a degree in public administration from the University of Tennessee. He is employed at Healthcare Corporation of America, Nashville.
