Smith and Whitworth

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Arthur Smith of Kingsport announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Carey Elizabeth, to Thomas Wyly Whitworth, son of the Hon. and Mrs. John Wyly Whitworth of Camden, Tenn.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Glover Smith of Springfield, Tenn., and Mr. and Mrs. Billy Graves Geurin of Kingsport.

Carey is a graduate of Sullivan South High School and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She works as the assistant director for advocacy for the UT System Office of Government Relations and Advocacy.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Newman Whitworth of Camden, and Billy James Fry and the late Barbara “Babs” Colleen Fry of Camden. Tom is a graduate of Camden Central High School and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He is currently an associate attorney with the law firm of Manier and Herod in Nashville.

Tom and Carey will exchange wedding vows on July 13 at West End United Methodist Church, Nashville, Tenn. After a honeymoon trip to Napa Valley, the new couple will make their home in Nashville.
