The Tri-Cities affiliate of Susan G. Komen, the world's largest breast
cancer organization, has named Lisa Marie Pierson as its new executive
director.

Pierson has nearly a decade of nonprofit leadership and fundraising
experience. Previously, she served as the director of development for Coalition
for Kids, Inc.

Pierson holds a master's degree in business administration from Milligan
College and a bachelor's degree in public health education from East Tennessee
State University.

"Susan G. Komen is the leader in the breast cancer movement," Pierson said.
"I am honored to become a part of the Komen Tri-Cities team and I am excited
about broadening our reach in the community as we seek to save lives and end
breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality of care for all and
energizing science to find the cures."

Pierson has experience maintaining donor relationships, managing grant
funding and evaluating community needs. She also has a background in strategic
planning, traditional and social media marketing and promotion, management and
achievement of fundraising goals.

Since 2005, funds raised in support of the Susan G. Komen Tri-Cities
affiliate have enabled more than 10,000 women in our area to receive much-needed
mammograms. Within that same timeframe, Susan G. Komen Tri-Cities has invested
more than $2.1 million back into the local community in the form of grants that
have helped provide clinical breast exams and breast health education and
awareness initiatives. The Tri-Cities affiliate has also contributed more than
$700,000 to the Susan G. Komen Global Scientific Research Program.
