A Monday night shooting in Kingsport has left one man dead and another in critical condition, with police saying a suspect has been identified but not yet located.
The incident reportedly occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. at 818 Dale St. Kingsport patrol officers responded to learn that one victim, Brandon D. Harris, 24, had already been transported to the hospital by a private vehicle. A second man, Marc T. Woodbury, 23 , was lying in the backyard of the residence.
According to Kingsport Police Department Public Information Tom Patton, Woodbury was transported by EMS to Holston Valley Medical Center, where he died as a result of his injuries. Harris reportedly sustained life threatening injuries and underwent surgery. As of Tuesday morning he was in critical condition.
Police have identified a Kingsport man as a suspect in the shooting, adding that warrants have already been obtained for his arrest. Patton reports that Lucky Anthony "Ant" Ross, 37, of 5059 Lake Forest Drive, should be considered armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the KPD at (423) 229-9429 or central dispatch at (423) 246-9111. Ross is currently charged with first-degree murder, criminal attempt to commit first-degree murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and unlawful carrying or possession of a weapon.
"Pretty much our entire detective division has been out working it all night, following a lot of leads," said Patton.
Citing an ongoing investigation, police are currently declining to divulge specifics on the incident; the number of shots fired, motive, potential relationship between Ross and the victims.
Monday's incident marks the second fatal shooting on Dale Street in less than three years. On the afternoon of Aug. 3, 2011, two men reportedly burst through the back door of a home in the 900 block, then shot and killed Jarrett Hughes, 24, in the living room.
The suspects fled the residence and ignited a lengthy KPD investigation, with their arrests occurring in August of 2013. This May the two men, Dominique Lashon "Domo" Morrison, 26, and Jarrod Logan "Hoodie" Anderson, 25, each of Johnson City, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, attempt to commit especially aggravated robbery and aggravated assault. KPD detectives cited robbery as their motive.
