Mumpower has PAC money advantage over Harrell in trustee race

BLOUNTVILLE — Alicia (Mrs. Jason) Mumpower is getting big bucks to fund her campaign to unseat Sullivan County Trustee Frances Harrell in the Aug. 7 county general election.

Harrell, a longtime incumbent, is the Democratic nominee.

Mumpower is the Republican nominee.

Campaign financial disclosures show most of Mumpower's backing has come from individuals or organizations with state or national political influence.

For the three campaign financial reporting periods between January and the end of June, Mumpower reported total receipts of $45,050.

Mumpower's biggest contributor is Washington, D.C.-based "GOPAC." The political group has given Mumpower nearly $15,000.

The Sullivan County Republican Party has given Mumpower $10,000.

RAAMPAC, a political action committee founded by Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey, has given Mumpower $5,000.

Other contributions to Mumpower's campaign include: Tracy for Senate, a state legislator campaign in Murfreesboro, $500; former Gov. Winfield Dunn, of Nashville, $250; former Gov. Don Sundquist's "Sundquist Committee," Ellendale, $1,500; Memphisbased "Majority TN," $2,500; and State Rep. Jon Lundberg's "Lundberg for House," Bristol, $1,000.

Additional contributions include: CASPAC, Thompson Stations, $1,000; James N. Point, Rogersville, $200; Amanda and Stephen Young, Nashville, $150; Lee Beaman, Nashville, $1,000; and Joan and John Gregory, Bristol, $1,000.

And: Don and Linda Osborne, Blountville, $250; TN Realtors PAC, Nashville, $500; Mike Harrison Campaign, Rogersville, $250; Ron Ramsey campaign, $1,500; Bristol Republican Women Club, $1,000.

And: Nathan Poss, Brentwood, $500; KVAT FOODPAC, Grundy, Va., $500;

As of June 30, Mumpower had a campaign balance on hand of $32,732.87.

For the campaign financial reporting periods between January and June 30, Harrell reported total receipts of $18,695. Harrell's biggest contributor is $14,000 worth of loans she has personally loaned her campaign.

Other contributions to Harrell's campaign include: Mountain States Title Co., Johnson City, $200; Shelburne Ferguson, Kingsport, $150; William and Janyce Dudney, Kingsport, $250; Sullivan County Democratic Party, $250; and Phillip McManus, Kingsport, $300.

Sullivan County voters will choose between Harrell and Mumpower on the Aug. 7 county general election ballot.

Early voting began Friday and continues through Aug. 2.
