ELIZABETHTON — Elizabethton rallied for four runs in the fourth inning and went on to down the visiting Kingsport Mets 5-2 in Appalachian League play on Wednesday.
The K-Mets (9-11) broke on top with two runs in the top of the second. Luis Ortega reached first on a bunt and then advanced to second on a throwing error.
Kingsport's Pedro Perez singled to left moving Ortega to third. A sacrifice fly by Zach Mathieu scored Ortega. Ivan Wilson drew a walk moving Perez to second.
Wuilmer Becerra then singled to load the bases.
Luis Gillorme drove in Perez with his fielder's choice to shortstop. The inning ended with the K-Mets Jean Rodriguez striking out.
The East Division leading Twins (13-7) began their rally in the fourth inning with a double by Max Murphy. Murphy moved to third on a ground out and scored when Try Vavra reached first on an infield single.
Dutch Deol doubled to right. With runners on second and third, Jonatan Hinojosa doubled to left. Vavra and Deol scored.
Two throwing errors by Kingsport allowed Hinojosa to score, putting Elizabethton on top 4-0.
The Twins made the score 5-2 in the sixth when Tyler Kuressa homered.
Perez led the K-Mets with three hits.
Kingsport's Gaby Almonte (0-2) took the loss after pitching six innings. He gave up four earned runs, struck out three and walked one.
