15-year-old charged in fatal shooting at Tenn. armory

LOBELVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says a 15-year-old has been charged in the fatal shooting of a longtime member of the National Guard at an armory.

The TBI said in a release Thursday that the teenager is charged with one count of criminal homicide and was being held without bond at a juvenile detention facility.

He is accused of shooting 45-year-old Sgt. 1st Class Michael W. Braden.

Authorities say the suspect somehow gained access to armory, which is usually locked, and fired several shots Wednesday evening. One struck Braden, who died later at a hospital.

The teenager was arrested without incident at his family's home in Lobelville, about 75 miles southwest of Nashville.
