Couple nabbed with drugs during stolen cattle raid sentenced to prison

ROGERSVILLE — A Hawkins County couple who were nabbed on drug trafficking and weapon charges during a cattle theft investigation last year received prison sentences and substantial fines Friday in Hawkins County Criminal court.

Jonathan David Bundren, 35, and Mary Ann Ferrell-Bundren, 49, both of 120 Shiloh Church Road, Surgoinsville, both of whom were arrested during a Dec. 10, 2013 raid on their property by the Hawkins County Sheriff's office, appeared before Judge John Dugger Friday.

Jonathan Bundren was sentenced to eight years and fined a total of $9,500 in exchanged for guilty pleas to theft over $1,000, felony filing a false report, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of Schedule IV narcotics with intent to sell, two counts of possession of Schedule III narcotics with intent to sell, maintaining a dwelling for drug use, possession of a firearm during commission of a dangerous felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Ferrell-Bundren was sentenced to six years and one day and fined a total of $8,750 in exchange for guilty pleas to possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of Schedule IV narcotics with intent to sell, two counts of possession of Schedule III narcotics with intent to sell, maintaining a dwelling for drug use and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

For three weeks prior to their arrest the HCSO and Tennessee Department of Agriculture had been investigating two separate thefts that took place around Nov. 13-14 — one theft involving 12 cows on Fishers Creek Road, and one theft involving two cows on Route 70-N near Devil's Nose.

Bundren was developed as a person of interest, and on Dec. 10 deputies raided his home which is located in the Hickory Cove area north of Surgoinsville near the Hancock County line.

Only two cows were recovered, but deputies did also allegedly find more than an ounce of marijuana as well as a large quantity of Clonazepam, Subutex, Lortab pills, and a .25 caliber handgun.

Other guilty pleas heard Friday by Dugger included:

- Dawn Amanda Albritton, 24, 10515 Forrest Hills Drive, Glade Springs, Va., who was sentenced to eight years and fined a total of $5,375 for initiating the process to manufacture meth, promotion of the manufacture of meth, simple possession of Schedule II narcotics, simple possession of Schedule IV narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia.

- Justin Dale Robinson, 25, of 16243 Elementary Drive, Abingdon, Va., who was sentenced to eight years and fined a total of $1,375 for initiating the process to manufacture meth, promotion of the manufacture of meth, simple possession of Schedule II narcotics, simple possession of Schedule IV narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia.

- Jessica Nicole Christian, 23, 209 Ross Circle, Rogersvillle, who was sentenced to a total of eight years, five years of which was to be served as a persistent felon with 45 percent release eligibility, and three years served with standard 30 percent release eligibility. She pleaded guilty to four counts of forgery, theft under $500, two counts of felony tampering with evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia. she was also fined a total of $1,500.

- Ryan Andrew Allen, 24, 356 Wahoo Drive, Kingsport, who was sentenced to three years and fined $2,350 for possession of Schedule II narcotics with intent to deliver and tampering with evidence.

- Randall Charles Bible Jr., 41, 481 Austin Mill Road, Rogersville, who was sentenced to three years and fined a total of $4,875 for two counts of delivery of Schedule II narcotics, four counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, simple possession of Schedule IV narcotics, maintaining a dwelling where drugs are used, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
