Police: Wise County fugitive nabbed with large synthetic drug stash

WISE -- A Wise County fugitive wanted on drug charges was taken into custody in Kentucky on Sunday, the Wise County Sheriff's Office said Monday.

Wise County Sheriff's investigators in conjunction with the Letcher County, Ky. Sheriff's Office and Kentucky State Police located and apprehended Russell Dwayne Peaks, age and address not provided, near Jenkins, Ky.

Peaks has been sought by Wise County authorities since May 3 on a number of distribution of narcotics charges and a capias for an alleged probation violation.

When apprehended on Sunday, the Wise County Sheriff's Office said Peaks had several hundred packets of synthetic narcotics and several thousand dollars in cash. He is now facing additional charges in Kentucky.

Lawrence Sexton of Jenkins, age and address not provided, was also arrested by Kentucky authorities on drug violations for the items allegedly located with the pair during the arrest of Peaks.
