Variety of community events, fund-raisers planned for this weekend

Kendricks Creek United Methodist Church will hold an "Old Fashion Ice Cream Social" May 21.

Community events

Big Creek Missionary Baptist Church, 803 Stanley Valley Road, Rogersville, will hold its Community Fun Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, May 18. Free activities and food will include a car show, Holston Valley Baptist Association Party Trailer with inflatables, snow cones and popcorn, music, cake walks, face painting, games, "fill a bag with clothes" and free hot dogs, chips, and drinks.

Kendricks Creek United Methodist Church, 1000 Kendrick Creek Road, will hold its quarterly music and social gathering at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 21. The theme will be an "Old Fashion Ice Cream Social" with a great variety of entertainment. Weather permitting, this will be an outdoor event. Bring a lawn chair. If raining, the event will be held indoors.


Pactolus United Methodist Church, 170 Pactolus Road, Kingsport, will hold a yard sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday and Saturday, May 16-17. A hot dog, chips and drink lunch will also be available Friday.

Arcadia United Methodist Church, 3954 Bloomingdale Road, Kingsport, will hold a home-cooked breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m., Saturday, May 17. Menu includes biscuits and gravy and more. Cost is a suggested donation of $7.

Rock Springs United Methodist Church will hold a fish fry from 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday, May 17 at the picnic shelter at 1751 Rock Springs Road. The menu includes fried or grilled fish and shrimp, homemade side items, and desserts. Carry-out is welcome. Proceeds benefit gifts to the community, missions and needed church projects. First Presbyterian Church, 119 W. F St., Elizabethton, will hold a basket auction following the worship service Sunday, May 18 in the Martin Fellowship Hall. The auction, which includes a luncheon appetizer buffet, will raise money for the FPCe Youth Group to benefit the weekly youth gathering, scholarships for summer camp at Holston Camp and mission trips. The themed baskets include car care, hobby time, treat time, picnics, art and craft fun, and pets.
