KINGSPORT — After taking a week off, Kingsport Speedway will roar back to life with an exciting six-division NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing program on Friday.
Headlining the Mother's Day weekend racing action will be a 60-lap Late Model Stock event. The other divisions in action will include Street Stock (30 laps), Pure 4 (25 laps), Rookie Pure 4 (20 laps), Iron Warrior (15 laps) and Legends (10 laps).
Through the first three events to open the season, Kres VanDyke of Claypool Hill, Va., has recorded two Late Model Stock victories, while Johnson City's Zeke Shell has one win.
Alan Rich of Sylva, N.C., John Harrell of Surgoinsville, and Royce Peters of Kingsport each have captured a Street Stock victory. Two-time Pure 4 track champion John Ketron of Kingsport has two wins in the division, while fellow Model City chauffeur Kenny Absher has one victory.
Michael "Mook" Jeter and Brandon Crumbley, each from Kingsport, and James Deese of Elizabethon have recorded Rookie Pure 4 victories. It's been a Lane family affair in Legends action, with father (Jerry) and son (Derek) each picking up a win.
The pit gate opens Friday at noon with early practice scheduled between 12 and 4 p.m. The grandstands and tier-parking gates will open to spectators at 5:30 p.m. For more information on the event, visit www.newkingsportspeedway.com.comments powered by Disqus
