KINGSPORT — Fun Fest 2014 will feature "Fun in the Sun ... and Under the Stars," Fun Fest 2014 chairman George DeCroes announced Friday.

"This year's theme truly captures the essence of Fun Fest and all that the nine-day festival offers," said DeCroes. "Fun Fest has something for all ages. From Mardi Gras to the fireworks, there are countless events spread throughout the region that week. We want to encourage everyone to explore new events and make the most of their Fun Fest experience."

Fun Fest 2014 will be held July 11-19.

DeCroes is no stranger to Fun Fest. A Kingsport native and Dobyns-Bennett graduate, DeCroes has spent much of his life in Kingsport. Currently, he is manager of community relations at Eastman, where he has been employed since 1981 — the first year of Fun Fest.

Married to Kim and father to Olivia and Victoria, DeCroes spends much of his free time working in the community. He serves on the Amp Advisory Committee, human resources board for United Way of Greater Kingsport, Keep Kingsport Beautiful board and the executive board for the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce.

For the past two years, DeCroes has served on the Fun Fest concert committee and worked with the Keep Kingsport Beautiful Trashbusters. As this year's chairman, DeCroes has a new appreciation for the number of people and coordination needed to make Fun Fest a success.
