ELIZABETHTON — Carter County deputies who were called to a residence in Minton Hollow on a welfare check on a small child on Tuesday found the child in good condition but made an unexpected finding, a complete copper still.
Lt Derrick Hamm and Deputy Roger Brown were dispatched to the residence of Benjamin Allen Presley and Brandy Lynn Mowell at 175 Minton Hollow Road. Brown said they were met at the front door by Mowell and she allowed them entrance to check on the living conditions for the small child.
Brown said they found the living conditions satisfactory, but while walking through the residence, they noticed a copper still in plain view sitting in the master bedroom.
