Folk Soul Revival coming to Nickelsville Days

The 21st Annual Nickelsville Days festival will kick off the morning of May 24 with a hearty 7 a.m. breakfast prepared by Eastern Star and culminates with a performance by one of Virginia's most popular bands - Folk Soul Revival - at 8 p.m.

The entire day will be filled with fun for all ages, including bungee jump, bike rodeo and a 3K run. Young and old alike will enjoy milling around the various craft and food vendors. There'll be a "Living History" exhibit presented by the 60th Tennessee Infantry Confederate Regiment at 11 a.m. and again at 3 p.m.

No festival is complete without a parade, and the Nickelsville Days Parade steps off at 1 p.m. It will start at the BB&T bank and end at Keith Memorial Park. Immediately following the parade, there will be a Memorial Service honoring all veterans and a special Gold Star mother will help lay a wreath in memory of the fallen. A special invitation is extended to all veterans to walk in the parade and attend the Memorial Service.

The historic Bush Mill will also be open, and visitors can take a look at all the completed renovations. A shuttle will be provided for part of the day.

The Marsh Regional Blood Center will be open from 3 to 7 p.m. for those wishing to donate blood. There will be a special MedVac Landing, also at 3 p.m., and the helicopter will be available for tours.

Children will enjoy the Joseph Young Magic Show at 5 p.m. Local musicians Copper Ridge will take the main stage at 6:30 p.m., followed by Folk Soul Revival at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $8.50 in advance and $10 at the gate. Concert tickets are available at Teddy's Restaurant, Pizza Plus in Nickelsville, and the Nickelsville Town Hall.

On Sunday morning, visitors are invited to participate in a 10 a.m. Community Church Service at Keith Memorial Park, followed at noon by Dinner on the Ground, with gospel music at 1 p.m.

All events take place either at Keith Memorial Park or Nickelsville Elementary School. Come out and enjoy the fun and meet the delightful folks in Nickelsville, Va. For details, visit
