BRIDGEPORT, WVa. - Virginia-Wise freshman Taylor Brandts was named the Mountain East Conference softball pitcher of the year on Wednesday. The Lady Cavs Kristina Romualdo and Christina Ziemba joined Brandts on the All-MEC first team.
UVa.-Wise's Rachel Hawks, Sarah Wiltshire and Alexa Hernandez earned second team honors.
Brandts posted a league best 18 wins against two losses. She finished the regular season with a 2.01 ERA and 125 strikeouts in 132.1 innings. Brandts pitched 15 complete games and had seven shutouts.
Romualdo finished her senior season with a .364 batting average, eight home runs, 13 doubles, and an impressive .643 slugging percentage.A first baseman, Romualdo had a .981 fielding percentage and committed just seven errors in 361 chances.
Ziemba posted a team-high .402 batting average for the Lady Cavs and had a team leading 66 hits.comments powered by Disqus
