KINGSPORT — Day 1 of the Big 7 Conference track & field championships held on the Dan Crowe-Tom Coughenour Track at Dobyns-Bennett on Thurday produced some stunning results.

The Dobyns-Bennett boys took a commanding 93.5-42 lead over Science Hill after the field events and 4x800 meter relay finals.
On the girls side, Science Hill leads D-B 74-68.
Daniel Boone, the defending state boys champions in the 4x800 meters, won the event handily ina time of 8:04.91. The Science Hill girls captured their 4x800 title with a winning time of 9:52.54.
Surprisingly, defending state triple jump champion Adriana Watkins of Dobyns-Bennett scratched on all four of her attempts and did not place for the Lady Indians. She did, however, qualify first in the 100 meter hurdles prelims.
