St. Andrews blisters the field in the AAC women's golf tournament at Cattails

KINGSPORT, Tenn. — St. Andrews cruised to a 26-shot victory Tuesday in the Appalachian Athletic Conference women's golf tournament and NAIA Direct Qualifier at Cattails at MeadowView.

The Lady Knights posted a sizzling 311 in the final round to give them a two-day total of 630.

Milligan finished second at 656 with Tennessee Wesleyan and Reinhardt tied for third at 671.

The win gave St. Andrews its first AAC championship in any sport since joining the league two years ago. Additionally, the Lady Knights receive an automatic berth in the NAIA nationals, which start  May 20 at the Wilderness Ridge Golf Club in Lincoln, Neb.

Laura Kinsman from St. Andrews won medalist honors, shooting a 156 (81-75). Teammates Sadiyya Gillespie (78-79) and Gariela Cidras (80-77) finished tied for second at 157.

First0round leader Ann Sullivan from Milligan tied for fifth at 160 (77-83).
