WEBER CITY — Scott County authorities are investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a single-family home Sunday in East Carters Valley.
According to Scott County E-911, crews from the Weber City and Gate City volunteer fire departments were dispatched to a house fire on Bellamy Lane at approximately 12:30 p.m. Crews spent nearly five hours battling the blaze before clearing the scene.
The occupants of the home were reportedly out of the residence when the fire began, officials said.
The home was considered to be a total loss due to the severity of the damage.
Firefighters arrived at the home minutes after receiving the call to find it fully involved in flames.
The exact location where the fire began was not immediately known, although officials did say it appeared to come from the rear of the home before moving into the attic area.
The Southwest Virginia Red Cross did respond to the fire to provide assistance for the family.comments powered by Disqus
