"We are excited to have Governor Haslam and Jimmy Fortune join us for this year's dinner," Keith Parker, Sullivan County Republican Party chairman, said in a prepared release. "During his tenure, Governor Haslam has leveraged conservative solutions to improve education, strengthen the state's economy, and improve job growth. He's sure to be a great keynote speaker and will be a great highlight to what continues to be an amazing event."

Haslam is seeking a second term as governor in the 2014 November election.

Fortune is a member of the Hall of Fame of both the Country Music Association and Gospel Music Association. He sang tenor for the Statler Brothers for more than 20 years.

Fortune wrote the group's second number one hit, "Elizabeth," plus "My Only Love" and "Too Much On My Heart." He has also performed at the White House for Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush.
