"On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, 'Peace be with you!'" — John 20:19 (NIV)
The word "peace" brings such a sense of comfort, wholeness and hope. It's a word we can rest in. Jesus knows our fears that keep us behind the locked doors of our hearts. He knows how hard it is for us to forgive and how painful it is to not be forgiven. He knows our doubts that keep us from fully believing that Jesus entered into the human state to save us. Into all of these difficulties of human life, Jesus enters and says, "Peace be with you!" Today, know that Jesus is ready to give us the peace we so desperately need.
Prayer: Gracious God, give our lives the sense of peace that breaks through the fears, sin and doubts that keep us bound. Amen.
