Churches plan cantatas, plays for Easter weekend

Easter events

Colonial Heights Christian Church will present "The Easter Song," performed by the church choir, at 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday, April 18-19 in the Family Life Center, 105 Meadow Lane, Kingsport. The musical tells the story of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus as seen through the eyes of Thomas and Matthew. A reception will follow both performances.

Crossway Baptist Church, 695 Park St., Gate City, Va., will present the Easter drama, "The Mercy Tree" at 7 p.m., Friday, April 18.

Durham's Chapel will present a cantata, performed by the youth group at 7 p.m., Friday, April 18.

Providence Church, 710 Ordnance Drive, Church Hill, will present "New Again" at 7 p.m., Saturday, April 19. To get to the church, take Silverlake Road to the bottom of the hill and turn onto Ordnance Drive. The church is on the right.

Bethel Apostolic Church, behind Courtesy Chevrolet off Stone Drive, will present an Easter play at 7 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, April 19-20.

Bloomingdale Baptist Church, 3220 Bloomingdale Road, Kingsport will present the musical, "The Blood Will Never Lose Its Power," performed by the church choir, at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, April 20.

Parker's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 437 Parker Drive, will hold its Easter program at 6 p.m., Sunday, April 20.
