KINGSPORT — Brookman's Fresh Catch Seafood bills itself as "East Tennessee's First Mobile Seafood Market" and can be accessed locally at the Kingsport Farmers Market on Wednesday and Saturday.

"We're definitely good for the community and it's needed," business owner Richard Brookman insisted.

The mobile market has been around since the end of last summer and features Gulf seafood, Alaskan crab legs and salmon imported from Canada, according to Brookman.

"I think we can compete with other retail seafood," Brookman said. "We do well at the farmers market and we are trying to expand outside of the farmers market."

"As the weather changes, the business is picking up. People around here don't like seafood so much in the winter time. If it's not warm they aren't thinking so much of seafood," he said.

Brookman said his mobile market also locates outside a Sullivan Street butcher shop on Fridays in order to pick up other customers as well as at the former Ridgefields Market at selected times.

Brookman's also is a veteran-owned business with products inspected and certified by the state.

The business accepts MasterCard, Visa, American Express, and Discover.
