VSP probes crash death of S.C. man

CLINTWOOD -- The cause of a single vehicle crash Friday in Dickenson County that claimed the life of a South Carolina man remains under investigation by the Virginia State Police.

At around 2:50 p.m. Friday on State Route 754, two miles west of State Route 631, a 2004 Ford F250 pickup truck ran off the right side of the road, apparently overcorrected, crossed back over State Route 754 and ran off the left side of the road. The pickup overturned in the river.

The driver, 67-year old Roman L. Stanley of Rock Hill, S.C., died at the scene. VSP Trooper M.B. Deel is investigating. Alcohol was not a factor, the VSP reports.
