The Tri-Cities Boating Club and the Johnson City Sail & Power Squadron want you to be safe when you do.
A free-to-the-public, two-night Tennessee Safe Boating Course will be held Tuesday, April 29 and Thursday, May 1 at the Northeast State Community College Library Building (Room L-106). The class runs from 5:30-8 p.m. each night.
Pre-registration is required on the TWRA website.
Any Tennessee resident born after Jan. 1, 1989, must carry the TWRA-issued wallet-size Boating Safety Education Certificate as proof of successful completion of the TWRA Boating Safety Exam when piloting a boat or personal watercraft.
Test applicants must purchase the $10 Type 600 Boating Safety Exam Permit at any hunting/fishing license vendor prior to the Thursday, May 1 class.
The Tennessee Safe Boating Course covers Your Boat, Getting Underway, Operating Your Boat — Safely, The Legal Requirements of Boating, Boating Emergencies — What To Do, Enjoying Water Sports With Your Boat and Test Review. The TWRA Safe Boating Exam will be administered during the last hour of the second class.
