Big first inning lifts Sullivan Central over Cloudland

BLOUNTVILLE — Sullivan Central sent 16 batters to the plate in the first inning and tallied 11 runs. It was all the cushion the Cougars would need as they cruised to an 18-2 win over visiting Cloudland on Wednesday in a non-district matchup.

Landon Sillyman had two singles in the opening frame and drove in three runs as Central (9-8) bounced Highlanders' starter Reed Jennings after he had walked five and gave up eight runs.

The Cougars' Kyle Tunnell, Luke Nussman and Zeke Shelton added two RBIs apiece in the first inning.
Sillyman finished the game 3-for-3 with four RBIs.

Garrett Minga got the win for Central, pitching three innings, striking out six, walking five and giving up just one hit.

Logan Russell came in to pitch for Cloudland (0-16) after Jennings was pulled. He went all four innings, striking out five.
Andy Jones had two doubles for the Cougars and drove in two runs.
