Wienen opens title defense with back-to-back Pro ATV wins

BLOUNTVILLE — The second round of the 2014 Mountain Dew ATV Motocross National Championship, sanctioned by AMA, season took place at a revamped Muddy Creek Raceway on Saturday.

Chad Wienen of Galena, Ill., won in the AMA Pro ATV division, posting back-to-back victories to start his title defense. John Natalie of Warriors Mark, Pa., was second, followed by Josh Upperman of Louisville, Ohio.

Wienen's 2-1 showing duplicated his efforts from the opening round for the overall win. Natalie grabbed the runner-up spot overall for the second straight round (1-3), and Upperman secured his first overall podium result of the season (4-2).

Wienen extended his lead in the ATV standings to six points over Natalie.

The Mountain Dew ATV Motocross National Championship will take a break of about six weeks before returning to action. The third round will be held May 17-18 at High Point Raceway in Mount Morris, Pa.
