JOHNSON CITY — Javier Alberto and Jared Lady scored second-half goals to propel Science Hill to a 2-0 Big 7 Conference soccer win over Dobyns-Bennett on Friday at Kermit Tipton Stadium.
After a scoreless first half that saw the Hilltoppers (8-0, 4-0) control most of the action, Alberto put together a nifty give-and-go with teammate Lucas Altman just four minutes into the second half that allowed Alberto to slip through the Tribe defense for an uncontested shot past D-B goalkeeper A.J. Robbins.
With time running down and the Indians (5-2-3, 1-1-1) forced to push their defenders forward, Lady chased down a long ball from the Science Hill backline and raced in one on one with Robbins to seal the deal with two minutes left in the match.
"They were just better than us tonight," said D-B coach Blake Rutherford. "You can't wait as late as we did to put pressure on a team as good as Science Hill.
"We'll just have to go back to work and get better."
