Hawkins commissioner Short remembered as a man of quiet conviction

Lynn Short

ROGERSVILLE — Lynn Short didn't say much, but when he did his colleagues on the Hawkins County Commission paid attention.

Short, 80, who died Sunday following a brief illness, was laid to rest Wednesday at Dodson Creek Cemetery off of Webster Valley Road just south of Rogersville.

Short represented District 7 on the Hawkins County Commission since 2010, and previously served a four-year stint on the commission from 2002 to 2006, but didn't seek reelection in 2006.

He was also a retired deputy of the Hawkins County Sheriff's Office with more than 25 years of service.
