Timesnews.net now featuring videos of adoptable pets

Ask these questions before adopting a dog

They are cute. They are furry. They need to find forever homes. And now, you can find them on Timesnews.net.

A new video series called "Adopt a Furry Friend" was launched this month. Every Thursday and Friday, animals from both the Kingsport and Sullivan County animal shelters will be featured on the website.

"The Times-News started this weekly video feature at Timesnews.net as a way to assist our community with this important need of placing shelter pets in loving homes," said Diana Meredith, marketing/content/audience development manager for the Kingsport Times-News. "Showing these pets in a video format allows us to feature several pets each week, and helps our audience get acquainted with these sweet animals. We hope that as a result more folks in our community will adopt from our shelters. Adopting a homeless pet is compassionate, inexpensive and a great way to find a wonderful new companion for your family."

Animals at the Kingsport shelter will be featured on Thursday. The video with Sullivan County shelter animals will go up on Friday. The videos normally are posted at about 11 a.m.

The videos can be found by visiting timesnews.net, clicking the video tab and then clicking "Furry Friends." Five videos have already been placed on the site since the beginning of March.

The videos have received a positive response from Times- News web readers.

The videos have also increased foot traffic into the shelter, according to Becky Birdwell, program director for the Sullivan County, Bluff City, Kingsport Animal Center.

She also said a lot of the animals featured in the series have already been adopted.

"This a thrilling opportunity to know a lot of extra fur babies are finding forever homes," she said. "We are thrilled with the opportunity (to team up with Timesnews.net) and hope it continues for a nice long time."
