Minor resigns after 12 years at C-N golf coach

JEFFERSON CITY — John Minor has resigned as Carson-Newman's men's golf coach after 12 years to take a job in the private sector, the university announced Monday.

"We'd like to thank John for his years of dedication and service to Carson-Newman," Allen Morgan, Carson-Newman athletic director, said in a statement. "He dutifully served this campus and helped provide guidance and leadership to countless young men and women who decided to golf here at Mossy Creek."

Women's golf coach Suzanne Strudwick will lead the men's team during the search for Minor's replacement.

Minor, a 1985 Carson-Newman graduate, led the Eagles to two appearances as a team in the NCAA Division II national tournament, and C-N was ranked both regionally and nationally throughout his tenure. The Eagles' best year under Minor came in the 2004 season when C-N claimed its first South Atlantic Conference championship. The Eagles advanced to the NCAA regional tournament.
