A fun and informational family-friendly event is coming to the area on Saturday, March 22. The second annual county-wide Family Fair, sponsored by Hawkins County Schools in partnership with Tennessee Coordinated School Health, United Health Care, Mayfield Ice Cream and Food City, will be held at Surgoinsville Middle School.
There will be something for students of all ages and their family members at this multi-purpose Family Fair, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., March 22, at Surgoinsville Middle School.
"The goal of the Family Fair is to provide a forum for parents and families to exchange information in an atmosphere that is friendly and fun," explained Dr. Michelle Harless, the Family and Community Engagement Coordinator for Hawkins County Schools.
There will be over 50 exhibitors and organizations set up throughout Surgoinsville Middle School to provide family members and students with resourceful information about programs that benefit children and youth.
A variety of programs will be represented, including summer programs and camps, academic initiatives, safety programs, proper nutrition skills and children's clubs.
In addition, children can enjoy Party Bounce inflatables, face painting, a petting zoo, and Mayfield ice cream.
"We wanted to have a way to provide families the opportunity to meet with organizations and agencies that benefit the whole child -- academically, socially, physically, and emotionally. Having an event like this benefits the family which, in turn, benefits the child academically, " said Harless.
You Should be Dancing from Rogersville and Just BCuz Music will be headlining the entertainment.
The Family Fair is a free event to be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., March 22, at Surgoinsville Middle School. Additional parking will be available at Surgoinsville Elementary School.
