WISE — Lopping locks for a good cause is back for its fourth year on March 29 at Geneses and Todd's Hair Studio in Wise.
The fourth annual Cuttin' 4 The Cause Cut-A-Thon benefits Hospice & Palliative Care's indigent fund. The Cut-A-Thon will snip early and trim late, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on March 29. Haircuts will be provided for a donation of $30 for women and $20 for men and children under 12.
Raffle tickets will be sold for $5 each, or five tickets for $20, and silent auctions will also be part of the event. All proceeds go to the charity.
Hospice & Palliative Care of Virginia is a nonprofit organization serving the counties of Wise, Scott, Lee, Dickenson, Russell, Smyth and Washington since 1993. The indigent fund provides hospice care to those with no or inadequate insurance coverage.
Over the past two years Hospice & Palliative Care of Virginia has served eight patients through the fund for a total of $16,900 in free or reduced-cost care.
Last year's Cut-A-Thon was a tremendous success, organizers say, thanks to businesses and individuals generously donating food, raffle prizes, silent auction items and financial support along with the hair care services provides by the staffs of Geneses and Todd's Hair Studio. Last year the event raised $15,654.44 for the Food Bank of Wise County.
