"But Christ is faithful as a son over God's house. And we are his house, if we hold on to our courage and the hope of which we boast." — Hebrews 3:6 (NIV)
Christ — who suffered, died, rose from the dead and ascended to God's right hand — has brought all believers into the house of God. But being part of God's house is not like living in the lap of luxury. The writer of Hebrews says that we are God's house — if we hold on to courage and hope. Being part of God's house means facing the possibility that our lives will be filled with as much sacrifice and suffering as Christ's life was. In the face of such perils, we must hold on to the courage and hope God has given us through Jesus and through the fellowship with other believers.
Prayer: Faithful God, be with us in times of struggle and pain. Give us courage and restore our hope to trust in Your sure provision for our lives. Amen.
