"So Abram left, as the LORD had told him." — Genesis 12:4a (NIV)

The LORD spoke to Abram and made him some big promises: "I will make you a great nation ... I will bless you ... I will make your name great ... you will be a blessing ... all peoples on earth will be blessed through you." There was no timetable for when the promises would be fulfilled. There were no concrete examples of what these promises, once fulfilled, would look like. Yet Abram didn't ask for such proofs. He believed and left his homeland for a new place. Abram's amazing faith became a byword for what faith in God looks like. Perhaps when we hear God's promise, we, too, can respond with Abram-like faith and just go and trust in God.
Prayer: Sustaining God, teach me to trust in Your promises for my life. May I go when you tell me to go, and stay when you want me to stay. Amen.
