KINGSPORT — Samuel Brown, a senior and an honor student at Dobyns-Bennett High School, will present a piano recital during the next installment of the Third Sunday @ 3 Concert Series at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

The recital will begin at 3 p.m., Sunday at the church, which is located at 800 Broad St., near Holston Valley Medical Center.

Brown, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Brown, is an active member of the D-B track team and orchestra. He is also a member of the Symphony of the Mountains Youth Orchestra. Following graduation, he plans to pursue studies in electrical engineering and music. He also has an avid interest in neurology.

Brown began his piano studies eight years ago with Dottie Slaughter of Kingsport, who is a member of Holy Trinity.

"Samuel has been a joy to teach, and a highlight of my 60-year teaching career," she said.

A reception will follow the recital.

An offering will be received to benefit the ongoing maintenance of the church's unique Wilhelm Zimmer mechanical action pipe organ (1972).
